Easy Solution for Covering a Large, Empty Wall

When we built our new home and proceeded to paint ALL of the walls white, we had a lot of people comment that our home was so sterile and uninviting. What they didn’t know, though, is that we had a vision! Over the past year, we have slowly added warm, cozy textures and tones to those walls that were once considered sterile and cold.

Click each link to see how we added texture and warmth to each room in our home.

I absolutely love the transformations that we have made to our newly built home. We didn’t want our home to look new or cookie cutter, and I feel like we have given it the lived-in, warm, and vintage aesthetic that you would find in an one-hundred-year-old farmhouse.

Covering a Large, Empty Wall

I recently did a home tour over on social media, and I had a follower comment that the space behind our living room couch seemed bare compared to the rest of room. I love input from our followers, so I set on a mission to find a solution.

The above picture is the space that was being referred to. Behind our couch we have a shelf that Deb built herself, and I continually redecorate that space according to the seasons. It usually consists of a larger centerpiece, candles, and florals. I try to give it depth and dimension with varying heights in my decor items. This is a large wall, though, with 10-foot ceilings, so sometimes my typical home decor items don’t do enough to fill this wall.

Tree Ring Rustic Oak Wood Framed Canvas Art from Wayfair

I came across this Tree Ring Rustic Oak Wood Framed Canvas Art, and I knew I had to give it a try in this space. While initially I thought it might look a little too modern for my space, I quickly fell in love with the warm tones and the nature-inspired image. There are three frame colors, and I chose the natural wood frame for additional warmth.

This wall art comes as a set of three separate framed prints, and it is available in two different sizes. We went with the smaller of the two which is 24″Hx48″Wx1.5″D. At two-feet tall, these prints did so much to add height and dimension to this wall. If you want an even more dramatic look or have an even larger wall to fill, this print also comes in a larger size that is 36″Hx72″Wx1.5″D.

I was very pleased with the price for both the size and quality of these pieces. The aged-wood image is perfectly for a warm, inviting Fall scene, and I could see this easily transitioning into winter with green garland and twinkling Christmas lights in the foreground.

Mine are propped up on the shelf behind the couch, however, this set does come with a hanging toolkit.  The toolkit contains a screw hook for the back of each frame. Then, you use a hammer to add the included hangers to the wall. What I especially love is that these hangers use pin nails so there aren’t large holes in the wall to fill if and when you change out your decor. Then, you simply hang your frames into place. It is so easy!

There are some great prints that include only one or two prints as well as some different image options. If you have a large space that you continually stare at and wonder what you could do to make it less empty, a framed canvas print is a great option. They are large, relatively inexpensive, and can be switched out and reused with each season.

I found the above pictures from Wayfair.  If you missed it, you can also see the outdoor metal chaise lounge chairs that we added to Deb’s back patio/grilling space last month that are also from Wayfair. At the time, this color that she selected was out of stock but it is back! She wanted lounge chairs for this space so bad, and when I found some that offered a reclining option and were also super stylish we decided to give them a try. After a month of use, I can say that they were a great addition.
