Well….all week, you guys have read about our ginormous job we tackled here at the House on Winchester with the entryway remodel. From what we started with, I believe we’ve accomplished our goals, and I hope we made a good first impression.
I didn’t want to poop up this post with a case of the uglies, so if you haven’t seen our previous post about our entryway and what we started with, you need to review.
I follow lots of blogs and several Facebook pages that focus on home remodeling and decor. I absolutely love that everyone has their own sense of style and their own ideas of what they want their homes to look and feel like. If two different people would have bought this home, it would look completely different. And I love that.
I’m so excited how it turned out, so here is our “version” of home.
Obviously, the entryway is the first place people see when they walk in our door. Who doesn’t like to make a great first impression? And we all know first impressions are critical.
First impressions ARE critical…..Ok, now I’m distracted with a story and can’t figure out why I used the word “critical”.
Who seriously uses the word “critical” in a normal every day conversation unless you are a very important person (VIP)… aka doctor or nurse.
Almost every time I hear someone use the word “critical” outside of a hospital, I have to laugh. Dead serious, we were on our way back from a Spring Break vacation about 100 years ago.
What was supposed to be a 17 hour drive home turned into much longer….like 17 hours into the drive, we were still 7 hours away from home.
Being dead tired with every single hotel full within a 1000 mile radius, the COCKROACH INN was our last hope. The entire lobby was full of desperate COCKROACHY people. And, because I was the last COCKROACH in line, I had the pleasure of listening to the overzealous front-desk-boy excitedly explain to every single person in front of me, “Parking is CRITICAL” and instructed everyone to a different parking lot.
To get to our room, we hiked down a hill, over the river, and through the woods with one bottle of wine and one corkscrew. That’s it! That bottle of wine was popped open and drank…. straight from the bottle. Don’t be a judgey pants. It was delicious!
I sure hope you like what we did here in the entryway of the House on Winchester…. after all, we were supposed to have rescued a miniature donkey and be out of town by now.
Oh….. And I have lots of questions about our wood floor and whether they are original to the house. They are NOT! We installed them and they were very, very inexpensive. If you missed it, I told all about what we used and how we did it here.
And…….BUH BYE NOW – Said in a loud high-pitched old lady’s voice, because how else could you say BUH BYE NOW?
