Fall Front Porch Decor and White Jack-O-Lantern Makeover

Do you remember when I found this jack-o-lantern on our trip to Brown County?  It was amongst all of the junk at this janky flea market we stopped at.  I ALMOST didn’t get it.  But, I figured that it was excellent quality, no cracks, and it would be darling after a makeover.  And, you already know what that makeover would consist of.

Of course, some white paint.

White Jack-O-Lantern Makeover

I first popped out the little night light on the bottom.  It needed replaced anyway.  And as far as paint goes, I debated using just regular white paint that I had on hand but I found some of my favorite white spray paint.  It’s my favorite because it goes on so smooth and covers so well.  It literally took two minutes and I left it dry outside while we went to a birthday party.

I used a silicone bulb that I already had on hand for other projects.  And, it happens to cast a warm glow inside.  So, I loved the look of it.  I decided that this white jack-o-lantern needed to hang out on the front porch by the door amongst the other pumpkins.

Fall Front Porch Decor

I will most likely do a post on the entire front porch.  But for today, I am just sharing this little side table area by the front door.  I thought my new little jack-o-lantern needed some height.  So, I used an old rusty bird bath that I’ve had for years.

If you watch Instagram stories, I shared several other options that would work for height.  You could use an old crock, bucket, candle stick, section of porch post, a large chunky piece of wood.  The options are endless.

I love how this little guy turned out.  I see these little lighted jack-o-lanterns everywhere… thrift stores, garage sales, flea markets, etc.  So, I will for sure be picking all of them up when I come across them in the future.  You can even leave the light bulb out of it if you didn’t want to mess with it.  And how cute would he be tucked inside of one of my china cabinet amongst my vintage dishes.  I’m thinking I may need to do that yet.

I love sharing quick easy makeovers with you.  I know spray paint isn’t rocket science, but this was a way to completely transform something into my style.  So I hope this inspired you in some way.

  • Love it! I think it looks adorable and the light inside adds the perfect coziness factor. I was wondering if you painted the inside white also?

  • I realize it might be a different sort of look, but I think it might be cool to paint one of these ceramic pumpkins dark brown to add to your brown pottery collection in your expansive dining room cupboard!
