We love pooping up our spaces with lots of stuff. But you guys know that. ???? I like my spaces filled to the max. We left the House on Winchester which had stained or beveled glass windows hanging everywhere. We had them hanging inside windows, from the ceilings, on the walls, etc. People ask me all the time how we do it and what we use. I thought this would be a perfect time to write about it, considering we just hung a beveled glass window here in the living room at the rental.
This space was all decorated and it felt so empty above because of the lack of chandelier like I used to have in every room. So I decided to poop up this space with a window. ????
You guys, this is such an easy project. All you need are four eye hooks per window that you want to hang, some chain depending on if you want it to hang lower than directly at ceiling level, and some S-hooks. You can, also, use Bulldog screw hooks to eliminate the S-hook if you want. We used what we had on hand. So we ended up just opening one of the chain links and bending it back around the eye hook, which works excellent if you don’t have S hooks… or they are some place packed in a box. ????
Figure out where you want to hang your window. The easiest way to do this is to find the studs in the ceiling FIRST. Truly… make sure you hit a stud or it will fall down and go boom… right on your head. ???? ???? You can use a stud finder to do that. They are so inexpensive and work like a charm. You will use it time and time again for hanging pictures, etc. Once those are marked, measure the distance between those studs according to the size of your window. Screw two eye hooks into those studs.
Measure the distance between those two eye hooks and screw two eye hooks in the window the same distance apart. We have found that when you locate the studs in the ceiling first, you can attach the eye hooks to the window according to that distance. I hope this is all making sense. LOL
I will be sharing more of the living room in the future but thought I would share how we hang stained glass windows from the ceiling first. Oh…. and here is what this room looked like before. All we did was freshen up this area with Benjamin Moore paint in Simply White and added curtains… and then we pooped up the space with our own junk. ????
This is the easiest way we have found to hang stained glass windows from the ceiling. We have a TON of them in storage so I wanted to use a few in this house to make it feel like our home. When we leave this little rental, a little spackling will fill the holes nicely. And it will be like the window was never there.
