Ideas to Cozy Up your Front Porch

Have you been cozying up your outdoor spaces like we have?  So far, we got our front porch put together last week after we had our new furniture delivered.  Our screened porch was cleaned and refreshed by using a few things from different spaces around our property.  We moved the urns that we found at the Springfield Flea Market last fall from the side of the driveway to the front porch.  And, I actually love how those look. I worked a bit more this past week on the front porch and made the entire front porch cozy.  So, today, I wanted to give you a few ideas to cozy up your front porch.

The Vision for the Front Porch

If you remember, last year we had all artificial plants on our porches.  We had artificial ferns and other green plants and topiaries simply because it would have been too much work. You see, we had our landscaping done around the house and our grass planted which meant watering every single night.  We knew that we would buy lots of flowers and ferns and they would get neglected.  Also, we can’t forget about our vegetable garden that we worked so hard on last year.  It would have been way too much.  To be honest, it helped tremendously with giving me that feeling of a cozy front porch without the hassle of taking care of plants.

This year, I was so dang excited to get live plants though.  We have never gone the artificial route before and I missed taking care of our ferns and flowers.  I had this vision for the front porch this year and to make it extremely cozy.  I mean EXTREMELY cozy.  The vision was to get large chunky funiture and make our front porch feel like the inside of the house – more like a living room.  Because we spend morning, noon, and night out here, it is a must to be comfy.

I wanted it full and, of course, wanted it to be in my favorite woods and whites colors.  Which meant a warm brown toned furniture, white flowers, with green ferns.  That was my vision.

Ideas to Cozy Up your Front Porch

I started with our rugsThese were actually some rugs that I purchased late last fall and have been outside all winter.  They did really well.  This porch doesn’t get a lot of rain unless it comes from a completely different direction. I believe they are inside rugs, but I use inside out all of the time as long as they are protected like these are.  I then added the furniture and actually kept the antique coffee table that we had on the porch last year.  Next came all of the accessories to make it EXTRA cozy.

Our coffee table is pretty big.

I loved the look of this jute rug so I used it as a runner, which is one of the things I have done quite often in the past.  This one matches my style, gives such a great amount of texture, and wears well outside.  I added this indoor/outdoor tray on top which could serve as double duty. You can actually use it to carry your meals, snacks, or drinks outside and then add it back to your decor. It’s very sturdy and perfect for your porch.  By doing this, it creates a little grouping just like you may have on your side tables in your home.

I love adding throw pillows everywhere as it is such a great way to cozy up spaces like the inside of our homes.  Some of these are ones that I’ve had but I did grab a few more to add some texture and a bit of different colors to our front porch.  Speaking of texture, the plant stand is perfect to use as a little side table or to add a planter to.  You can even turn it upside down to hold a huge fern.  The white serving bowl on top could be used to plant little succulents and hold flowers.  It looks like an antique to me and the price is so budget friendly.  This could be used indoor and outdoor, as well.

I hope these photos gave your some great ideas to add some coziness to your own spaces.  If you are like us, you spend every waking moment outside so we wanted it to feel comfy.
