I recently received some milk paint in the mail from one of my Instagram friends and guess what it sparked. That’s right… another switcheroo. You all know how I’ve been switching things up lately all over the house on Winchester. First, we found a new coffee table for the family room and moved that room around. Secondly, we got a new headboard for the master bedroom. And thirdly, we changed out the stairway landing closet doors to some really cool antique ones. Once I received this milk paint, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.
The closet door in the master bedroom is a slider. To be truthful, it is always open. It’s there for mainly decorative reasons because our closet actually has a window. When designing this area, I didn’t want to cover up the natural light it brings to the room so I planned for our clothes to be in a place where it isn’t seen with the door open. Therefore it can remain open at all times.
I found this antique pocket door on Craigslist while we were remodeling this room and thought it would be perfect for this space. It is actually 4′ wide so I knew it would fill this space well.
Now before you go calling the you-can’t-paint-that-door police, ????????♀️ you need to know a few things. The door had lots of scratches in the original finish. It, also, never looked clean despite my scrubbing. The finish was very worn in a few places and always looked dusty. If you want to call the YCPTD police after knowing all of the above, go ahead. ???? I’m fine with that.
Note: This was my first time using this milk paint so I followed all directions on the package. I’m going to be doing a full blog post on the brand of paint I used in the next couple of days. Along with detailed pictures of how to use it, etc. But I wanted to show my bloggy friends my first project.
I think it turned out fabulous and I’m completely in love with this brand of milk paint. I can’t wait to show you all the details and I also have a surprise…but I can’t tell you yet. That should be coming sometime this weekend.
What do you think? Let me know in the comments or chat with me over on Facebook and Instagram. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I appreciate you all.
Buh bye now,

I realize I’m like 8 months late to the party, but I just found your blog and your Instagram account. Let me just say, I’m in love with your house and how you decorate it!!
Question for you-did you ever post more on painting the master bedroom door? I looked and couldn’t find anything. Would mind sharing the brand of paint you used?
Thanks and looking forward to more beautiful posts from you.
