Neutral Spring Fireplace Mantel

I have been working hard on getting the dining room put together, as you may know.  It’s a process decorating rooms and I take it seriously.  Ha!  And, I finally got the mantel in the dining room decorated for spring.  It’s the first time this mantel has had any decor on it since we moved in.   So, today, I wanted to share this neutral spring fireplace mantel in the dining room.

But first, did you see the rooms I have completed?  If not, check them out.

Neutral Spring Fireplace Mantel

Out of all the homes that Deb and I have lived in, we have only had two fireplaces.  Of course, prior to this one.  One was in the big house in the woods on Winchester Road. (Long before this website.)  I have talked about that house a lot because it was our favorite property until, of course, we moved here to this woods. And, the one on Winchester Street…  Which, by the way, the Winchester Road and Winchester Street was not planned.  It just happened.  Anyway, both of them had the televisions above them so it left very little room to decorate.

When we moved into the rental, I had to figure out a place to store an antique mantel that we bought for our new home.  We used it as a headboard for a short period of time and then moved it to the family room behind the couch.  As you can imagine, we were busting out of that rental so it’s the only place it fit.  I was thrilled to have another mantel to decorate.  And used to share a new fireplace look every single month for awhile.  Do you remember that?

We now have FOUR mantels to decorate.  And, I’m not upset about that.  Ha!

I started off this neutral spring look with a large window that I found in storage. I thought it made a pretty backdrop for my rabbit picture, which is perfect for spring.

Which, by the way, the storage unit is now empty as of last night.  If you aren’t on social media, you would have missed that.  I cannot begin to tell you how thrilled we are about that!

I ended up using my two silver urns that I found a few months back. They are actually ice buckets but I always try to use pieces like that within my decor to get more use from them.  I was going for a whispy look with my flowers.  And, the cherry blossom stems worked perfectly for that.  Especially after adding some other stems that were in my stash.  Which, I believe I found at Hobby Lobby years ago.

I love candles and candle sticks on the mantel to give the room ambiance.  These wood and white ones are really similar my favorites here for pillar candles.  And, I’m sure you have seen these beaded ones from Antique Farmhouse all over my website and social media.  I like the different woods of both mixed together.  Of course, I had to use some of my favorite battery operated taper candles.  I am going to order a few more of my favorite battery operated pillar candles and replace the ones I have up here now.  These don’t look as real.

Here is a TIP when decorating a fireplace mantel!

If you aren’t a fan of tearing your mantels apart every few months, start with a plain backdrop.  You can use a window similar to what I did here, a shutter, small door, mirror, etc.  And, then start adding layers.  The rabbit picture is perfect for spring.  But, this entire mantel can be reused for summer and fall by simply changing that rabbit picture and the flowers.  You can get double and triple duty out of one look.

I have all of my fireplace looks rounded up in one place if you need more inspiration.

Stay tuned for more dining room inspiration including the massive cabinet we are working on.  Also.. I have so many more things to add to this space that I cannot wait to share.

Thanks for stopping by today and always!  I appreciate it so much!
