I just had to update you all on our new build progress this weekend. Because I want to be able to have a place to look back and see how far we have come. If you are following along with Instagram stories, you know that Deb and I have recently been working on clearing a few smaller spaces in the woods for our fire pit, old lady swing set, stock tank pool, tree house, etc. ???? Because we know our Bulldozer Boys would have way bigger fish to fry… like clearing the woods where the house and barn will go. Anyways….. They came this week and made TONS OF PROGRESS.
While I know some of these pictures don’t look like a lot of progress to you. It’s a whole LOT of progress to us. It means SOMETHING is happening. ???? We’ve never built before. For those of you who have, can more than likely relate. Things happen SLOOOOOOOW. BUT.. from what I hear, once they start happening, they happen. The quicker things start happening, the faster Deb and I can get in there and take over. We will be finishing the entire house ourselves after the drywall is mud and taped. And, we are ready for the challenge.
Eight hours before snapping this photo, ???????? this was nothing but woods with a small winding trail. This right here will be the future site of Deb’s workshop. After Bulldozer Boys removed all of the trees, the property looks MASSIVE. And we can really see how things are going to look. So many of you watched (on Instagram stories) as they pushed over trees and popped out stumps with their bulldozers. I have never seen that done before. Deb and I kept commenting how the trees looked as light as toothpicks and the stumps being removed reminded us of Dr. Pimple Popper. With a little help of the bulldozer, they popped right out of the ground. ????
They also knocked down the trees where our new driveway will come into the woods which is VERY EXCITING. We checked on the progress once they left and drove into the property that way for the first time. It was SO SURREAL. I don’t think you know how long we have waited for this moment. We lived in the House on Winchester for three full years. We talked about building a house in the woods for years…. YEARS before that. When we received an offer on the house without it even being on the market, we knew it was a sign. And, the time was right. Were we afraid? YES! We are VERY FAMILIAR with taking an existing structure and making it ours. We know NOTHING about building. But, we knew it was the right time.
I mentioned that the property looks massive once they removed several trees. As I snapped this pic above, Deb yelled across the property that I looked like a pin dot. I hollered back, “I wouldn’t talk…” Can you see her? She is sitting in our fire pit area with an orange colored shirt. I cannot wait to look back at these photos and see more progress.
