Antique Finds

Our Antique Haul from the Springfield Extravaganza

Well another Springfield Extravaganza Flea Market is in the history books.  Man did we have a great time.  We did our normal tradition of leaving home on Thursday afternoon and spending the night somewhere close to Springfield, OH. And then shopping until we drop all day Friday.  This year the weather was absolutely perfect for a flea market.  Friday started out at 57 degrees and I believe got up to 72.  It was sunny and an all around fantastic day!  Although we didn’t find a ton, I still wanted to share our antique haul from the Springfield Extravaganza Flea Market 2023.

Our Antique Haul from the Springfield Extravaganza

First off, did you see my list of things that I was looking for?  I had a bunch of things that I was focused on finding so I’m wondering if that’s why I didn’t find much.  I tend to do that.  When my eyes are searching for specific items, I sort of bypass a lot of other things that I may want.  I always search for pieces to add to my collections so I was so excited when I found my first purchase.  By the way, the above pic was a cabinet that I spotted right when we walked in that was already sold.  But isn’t it cool?

Spongeware Bowl

I have a pretty good collection of these spongeware bowls that I shared in this post.  They are truly one of my favorite collections that I have.  My favorites are the ones with the scalloped gold edges which I don’t run into very often.  But, I was thrilled to find this large bowl to add.  I have a feeling this was the bowl which once held a large pitcher.  But, I’m unsure.

Copper Wind Spinner

We fell in love with this copper wind spinner as soon as we saw it.  And, when we heard the story of the older gentleman and how this little business of his came about, we just had to get one.  He said he got out of the military and didn’t know what to do with himself, so he started making these wind spinners.  Now he only sells them at flea markets.    He makes all different kinds and gave us a card to take home if anything would happen to break.  He will stand behind his work and fix it for free.  We both have an idea of where we want this displayed in our garden so stay tuned for that.

Two Large Antique Table Legs

When I see table legs that are ornate and see two matching ones, I scoop them up.  These have a lot of detail which I love.  Do you remember when I used these two matching ones as candle holders?  That is what I want to do with these.  And, I will probably use them on one of our fireplace mantels… maybe the kitchen.  Keep watching because I will for sure share.

Candelabra Lamp

I ran across this candelabra lamp and was immediately spinning some ideas around in my head.  It was previously a lamp but someone removed the wires and made it into a candle holder.  I want to wire it up and use it as a nightlight.  And, then have Deb add it to the top of a column that we have in our stash so it stands on the floor.  What do you think?  I will be sharing that entire project when it happens.

Two Sets of Matching Wrought Iron Urns

This was completely unplanned.  Well, I should say buying TWO SETS of matching urns was unplanned since I was on the hunt for one set.  They are so hard to find.  The same guy happened to have two matching sets.  I chatted with him about them and he said he has had them for ten years and just dug them out of his storage.  They are not antiques but they are great replicas.  I have a set of newer black ones that I got when I was in my late 20s that I love and still have.  So, I know these will be around forever.  I know exactly what we will do with both sets.  So stay tuned for that as well.

Did you make it to any flea markets this weekend?  We saw so many people who follow us over on social media and it was great fun meeting everyone.

  • We made it to the show as well! A yearly tradition Told my husband I’d be so excited if I saw you, but darn it, didn’t cross paths with you. I think I’m so focused on my hunt, I tend to not notice there are people…..just the cool junk all around me. 😅. I enjoy your stories and your beautiful collections. It inspires me! Have a great weekend!

    • Yes! Deb and I both love to people watch, but we get so in the zone when we are searching for treasures that oftentimes we don't even notice the people around us.

  • Sounds like the perfect market day! I wish I lived closer. Looking forward to seeing how the candelabra looks on the column!

  • I saw you and Deb with Liz Marie. Didn't want to to bother you. My beastie and I go every year in May.and September. We have the best time. Luv u guys

  • I was keeping an eye out for you and Deb! I actually saw you! You were talking to Liz and I didn't want to interrupt! I drove from Alabama and had a great time! I found a lot of treasures, but didn't find as much as I wanted! I did get a fabulous cupboard! I bought it the first 5 minutes of being there! Love your treasures and can't wait to see them in the house!

    • A lot of the time it does seem like the best find of the day is the very first find! We didn't come home with as much as we have in the past either, but I am definitely happy with the things we did get.

  • I LOVE the candelabra lamp and think it will be PERFECT when you rewire it for a nightlight. I am definitely looking forward to seeing that as a "finished project". Basically, everything I've seen that you have done as far as decorating your new home has been something that I love and would do similarly.

    • We can't wait to get this done and setup in our home! Once this large cabinet piece is done, I am hoping to jump into some of the smaller projects.

  • As always, you all have chosen such gorgeous items! The copper spinner is fantastic and I would love to have seen and met that gentleman! What a find!,

  • I was looking for you two! But its such a whirlwind kinda thing. A Beautiful day, fall stuff, ANTIQUES, nice people, people watching! It was the best!
Maybe next year. Lol. Glad you found some cool stuff!

  • Will you please share the information from the man who makes the wind spinners? I love it and I’m always looking for interesting garden items.
