Deb and I ran to Costco a few days back to get some food for the upcoming snow storm this weekend. Ha! Not really because of the snow storm but I like to act like we did. There is a storm coming in the next day or two, which was supposed to be snow. And, now I think it’s mostly rain. We all know we have enough food in our pantry and freezer to last us for awhile. So, really, I just wanted an excuse to go to Costco. However, while we were running around, we stopped at a few thrift stores and found only a few items. But I still wanted to share our small antique haul this week with you.
I shared our entire experience and all of the antique items that we saw in a reel and a TikTok. So if you are a visual person, see those here:
We saw several pieces that we loved. I don’t think I was in the mood to buy because I brought home two small things. I WISH I would have bought this cute little silverware drawer below so I could flip it and share with you all. It was only $15. They are so handy. I may call today to see if they still have it and see if they will hold it for me. But I don’t have time to pick it up for a few days. So, we will see.
We used to give these little boxes a makeover and sell them in our store. Sometimes the velvet areas that held silverware comes out really easily and sometimes it doesn’t. But, they look adorable painted and with different knobs. And they are so useful. They work perfect for makeup on your bathroom counter, to keep your vitamins and supplements at hand in the kitchen, or for coffee pods. I will keep you posted if I run back up and get that piece and you will see the makeover for sure.
I found a piece of ironstone for only $2.99 and was thrilled. I haven’t found a piece at a thrift store to add to my collection for a long, long time. And, that is really the only place I buy them because they are pricey.
I, also, found a cutting board in the shape of an owl to add to my cutting board collection. Did you know that I have one of those collections, too? Ha! I usually tuck them in here and there and don’t display them as a whole. but, I’ve never seen an owl before, to be honest. He is unique and will look great tucked into my decor during the fall months. This little cutie was $2.99. I just took a peek and found one just like it online for $47.
That is all brought home from our outing that day.
See more of our antique hauls here. I love to share them with you all.

how do you clean those items when you get them home? can ironstone go in a dishwasher? and how do you ever clean a cutting board? just soapy water? asking for a friend 😉
hahah I don’t use them for food.. only decor. So yes, I wash them off with soapy water.
I love the owl cutting board. My mom collected owls so the owls I have in my home always bring up fond memories.
Oh I hope you are able to get the silverware box. I’ve had one that my parents gave me for my wedding and with still have it. The silverware I can take out and display but I would love to see you take on the box. hugs.
