This post was written in collaboration with Boutique Rugs.

You guys know how much I love to refresh areas.  You also know how much color stresses me out.  I shared with you over on Facebook and Instagram a few weeks back a new rug that I added to our stairway landing.  Well…….    I couldn’t do it.  It had a little too much blue in it for my taste.  I know, I know… don’t yell at me.  ????  So many of you over on Instagram called this one before I did.  Ha!  I thought I could handle it, but NOOOOOOOO.

When BoutiqueRugs asked me if I wanted to team up with them on a little project, I was like, “Ummmmmmmm, considering I have been stalking your site over the last couple of months…… YES.”   I knew I had to keep my choice simple and neutral, because you know what will happen.  I go crazy.  ????   I recently switched out the rug in our bedroom which has different shades of gray as the primary colors and I love it.  I feel like it grounds the room.  So if I can handle something like that in there, I can surely handle it on the landing.

Searching Through BoutiqueRugs Choices

I started looking through their enormous selection of different colors and styles of rugs and loaded my cart with my faves.   I LOVE this one.  It looked similar to the one we just found for our bedroom but I was afraid it would have TOO much gray.  I debated on this one.  It’s got more of a brownish tone to it, but I was trying to keep our stairway railing and bathroom door in mind, which are both gray.   I LOVED this one because it had cool fringe on the sides.   But, ultimately, this is the one I chose, and, I couldn’t be happier.  I feel it does the same thing as the darker rug does in our bedroom.  It grounds the room and pulls everything together.

BoutiqueRugs were so easy to work with.  They sent my rug out in a timely fashion and wrapped it in heavy plastic to keep it safe from the weather.  The quality is excellent and their rugs are at a perfect price point.  I highly recommend checking them out!

A Few Other Changes

I ended up making a few other changes by moving the two wingback chairs from our bedroom out on the stairway landing for a different look.  I found these slip covers and absolutely love them.  The fabric on the chairs isn’t bad but it’s a bright coral color, which doesn’t go well with my boring whites.  ????  I love the fact that you can give your chairs a complete makeover with inexpensive slip covers which can be removed and washed.

Let me know in the comments what you think of my new rug!  I LOVE it.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I cannot tell you how much appreciate it!

Buh bye, now!

  • Danelle, love the new rug! It is so perfect for this landing area! I also like the chairs out there! Looks just great????

  • Love the new rug! The color/ texture looks so good! Also like the chairs out there! Perfect landing !

  • I have been looking for a long time for the perfect grey and black area rug to add to my living room. I love this rug and may have just ordered it :)

  • I have loved the way this rug looks in your upstairs landing since you got it last August. I am ready to order it since the EASTER55 code is such a great deal. (Himalayan #2308) However, I read the reviews and 2 people said that the online pics don't look the same in person and that the rug has lavender in it. The description of the rug on Boutiquerugs states the color is "lavender, medium gray and black." But your rug doesn't appear to have lavender in it, and I don't want lavender, just neutral blacks, grays, creams, etc.
Can you advise me as to whether your rug actually has lavender in it? I'm hoping to put an order in during this sale if I can get your input first.
    Thanks SOOO much!
