We have been wanting to add some outdoor string lights around the fire pit area again but just never took the time to do it. There are some at the Squatter’s Camp, the Pergola Swing, and the back deck (new post coming soon on those). They just add the perfect amount of twinkle to the woods. We love the commercial grade string lights because the quality is excellent. And, they last so much longer. Initially, we had some issues hanging them here because of the length of the run. They would come unplugged where they drooped at the plug. We tried everything.
I recently saw someone on Instagram hang string lights up differently. They attached eye hooks and heavy duty wire to the spaces where they wanted the lights. And then attached the string lights to the wire using smaller pieces of wire. We ended up do that and it works like a charm. Rather than attaching the string lights with wire, we used small zip ties, so either one works well. It prevents them from drooping and unplugging themselves. We also decided to add a white pine tree close to this area.
AND… Do you like our new white pine tree. Funny how excited this makes me. ????
This woods of ours was untouched for years. Trees would fall and Deb’s dad would cut them up and use them for firewood back when his health was good. I have mentioned a lot over on social media stories that we are taking our time when we clean out an area of the trees. We definitely want the woods to stay thick for privacy reasons because, duh.. it’s why we live in a woods. ???? BUT, lots of small saplings in a sitting area creates a feeling of chaos to your eyes. So we usually start planning our area and then see which trees need to be removed to calm the area down and make it simple.
We added our fire pit last year. It was actually the first thing we did here on the property. We have cut down several trees here and there. This past weekend we decided to remove a few more and add a white pine tree to the area. I absolutely cannot believe what a difference it made. We are adding evergreen trees everywhere we can just so we have some kind of life around here when the leaves fall. The pond got a makeover with evergreens and I love the way that turned out, too.
We may have to move the entire fire pit once we build the house, but we will enjoy it until that time. This tree is back far enough that it won’t be touched. We are talking about adding a few more evergreens to this area, or even a few white hydrangeas because they are our favorite. Who knows what we will decide, but I love our new white pine tree. And, just wanted to share.
