I already confessed that I am a plant killer a few months back. I have tried a dozen times and finally gave up. It’s time to realize that I just can’t keep them alive. I get so excited that I have a living plant that I water it every other day or so. Then it starts looking like it’s drowning, so I give it a break from watering. And then I forget about it. WEEKS later, I remember how happy I was when I brought a living plant into my house, and think, ???? when was the last time I watered that thing? By this time, the dirt is dried and the leaves are crinkly. So, I make sure and water it REALLY well…. Two weeks later, it’s completely dead.
I bought two matching live topiaries last year that were absolutely gorgeous. As I was carrying them to the car, Deb said, “You do know these won’t even be around in a month.” I said, “No… I asked her how to water them and she told me all of the instructions.” Well…. I did all of the same steps that I listed above. In a month’s time, one was yellow and crunchy and the other one was half yellow and half crunchy. I thought about spray painting them bright green just so Deb couldn’t say “I told ya so…” but they went in the trash. I gave up.
One of our girls is a REAL plant lady. I swear she has 100 plants. She collects them. She’s so good at raising little plants that she buys very rare ones and sells starts. Did you know there is an entire community out there that does that? Needless to say, I don’t belong in that community. ???? I belong in the artificial-plants-that-look-real community.
I’m a freak when it comes to artificial plants. They HAVE to look real or I just can’t. Some of the plants I have found recently look SO REAL that they even have fake dirt… and fake moss growing on that dirt. You will pay a little more for the artificial plants that look and feel real, but to me they are worth it. I have people ask all the time if mine are real.
I guess you can say that I have started a new collection….. artificial plants which look real. A few if my very favorite brands of artificial plants are Nearly Natural and House of Silk Flowers. You can get a few choices on Amazon or at Walmart, but Nearly Natural has their own website, too, with a huge selection.
I LOVE this maidenhair fern in a decorative pot. Not only does it look real, but it feels real as well. It is wired, which means you can twist and turn each individual “branch” the way you want. The dirt and roots looks SO REAL that it’s shocking. Both Deb and I commented on that exact fact when I pulled it from the package it arrived in. It comes in a very cute distressed pot that matches with any decor. I still sometimes set it in an antique crock or bowl just to give it a different look.
This two pack of ferns is such a great deal, too. They are a great size and the distressed clay pots they come in and perfect for any decor. They also are wired. These look great setting on side tables in groupings, on your kitchen cabinets by a window, or tucked into shelves. They are of pretty good size, too.
This artificial fern came in this cute basket with handles which automatically adds texture to my wood and whites theme that I love so well. And it has moss “growing” on top of the dirt in the basket. It is PERFECT for a round coffee table or a dining room table. It is a little pricey, BUT, the way I see it…. I paid this much for the two little topiaries that I killed in two months. This one will be around forever. ????
There are so many different ones available, but like I said, I need them to look real. I have my eyes on a few other ones that just may wind up in my collection of artificial plants. They have some very real looking succulents, too. (Deb HATES that word, by the way.) Click the pic to shop!

I just ordered the maidenhair fern (So excited) and some artificial plant cleaner that had a good rating as well. Do you have cleaning tips for them though?
I'm a total faux plant snob, so this post was great for me. Some of my rooms aren't conducive to growing real plants, not enough light, so yay to real looking fakes!!
Yay... I was very pleasantly surprised.
Just ordered the maiden hair plants! Can’t wait to get them! Thank you for linking all your plants! ????
Yay... I think you will be happy with them. ????
I just picked up my maidenhair fern and I LOVE it! It looks so real! I too am a faux plant snob. This one could fool anybody. I love houseplants, but my cat eats them and then, well, horrible things happen ;) Thanks for linking this fabulous fake!
Yay. I'm glad you love it. I cannot believe how real they look.
