Hey friends.  Long time no chat. If you didn’t notice, I haven’t posted here in a few months. Ha!  You may have been catching up with what we are doing over on our social media platforms, as we are up to date on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.  If you didn’t know, I have been sharing all of our projects here on debanddanelle.com since April, 2017.  See my first post here.  Can you believe it has been that long? I honestly can’t.  Today, I wanted to share some thoughts on why I haven’t shared here recently. And, give you a few other updates on what’s going on around our home and property.

Thoughts on Why I haven’t Shared Here

I started my website/blog back in April, 2017, on a whim. We had just bought a hoarder house and we are working on that. I ended up getting really sick with something I referred to as the bird flu. The cough was awful. So, I was up all night coughing and on the couch all day. So, I took that time to do something constructive since I couldn’t do many major projects. My first website was very simple and created by me, myself, and I.  Ha! I have absolutely LOVED sharing our lives with all of you. This little website and our social media platforms have turned into a full time job for Deb and I for the last several years. It all has been the biggest blessing. It’s the best job that I have ever had, to be honest.

Since 2017, I have been writing posts on all of our projects that we did at the House on Winchester. I shared when we sold our house and moved into the rental. We then moved into Deb’s workshop, previously known as the Woods and Ivy Cottage.  And I obviously shared everything about our move here to our new home.  Don’t forget the remodel of our old house, the before and after of our rental kitchen, the before and after of our backyard at every home since I started, our chicken coop and vegetable garden project, and everything in between.

I am not sure that you know this, but I write all of the posts myself and I shoot all of the photos. So each post takes a LOT of time.  Am I complaining?  No. I LOVE sharing in this space.  I consistently have shared here 3-7 times a week since April, 2017. That is a lot of sharing. Ha! Trust me, I put lots of pressure on myself when it comes to this. 

To be honest…

I think I just needed a little break.  We were just coming out of the holidays which is INSANE when you do what I do. You can times your normal workload by 2 or 3. I remember publishing my last post of 2024 and thinking – I am just tired. 

But, honestly, I have thought about this space multiple times a day and every single day since. 

Do I really NEED to share here since I share almost everything over on social media? 

Does anyone even care if I share all of our projects here?

Why am I thinking about this space SO MANY times a day? 

I think I realized recently that it’s not a NEED to share here.  It’s a WANT.  I miss it. 

I miss putting my thoughts onto “paper” about certain projects. And, being able to refer back to different BEFORE photos. This has been a type of journalling for me and I miss digging deep into myself for those thoughts. I realized that I don’t HAVE to share 7 days a week. I can share whenever and whatever I want to.

So, today, I guess I am saying…

We are back – with less pressure.

And, I have SOOOOOOOO MUCH to catch you up on. 

We have started and/or completed several projects including wallpapering the bathroom.  Along with the sunroom addition, we completed a brick project outside. We are in the middle of a guest room wallpapering project that includes board and batten. Deb has been repairing the wall after we removed our bathroom vanity to replace it with an antique piece and SO MUCH MORE. And, we have a lot more things that we have on our huge list of to-dos.  So, I’m looking forward to sharing it all. 

Man, I’ve missed this space.
