Another Antique Chandelier Find for the Bedroom

Do you remember a few weeks back, I shared this cozy corner in the bedroom?  Well, since then, we emptied out our storage unit.  And, we had a lot more furniture and home decor that I had to find a place for. So, I wanted to update you.  A few weeks back, Deb came home from the storage unit with a white china cabinet that we had on the landing in the old house.  It’s one of my favorite pieces because of the size.  Plus, it gives me another place to display my goodies.  Well, we found a place for that.  And we, also, found a spot for another antique chandelier find for the bedroom from this past week.

(I will be sharing closeups of this cabinet and the contents soon.)

Another Antique Chandelier Find

You may not have even know that we had the electrician wire a spot for a chandelier in front of the sliding doors in the bedroom.  We wanted to be able to see it while sitting on that screened porch this summer.  While we have been collectors of different antique crystal chandeliers for years, we were still short a few.  I should really count to see how many we have in this house.  We have carried some of them from house to house over the last 15 years.  One has been with me since I was in my mid-20s and has been in about 10 homes.  Ha!  I shared the story behind my favorite one, if you are interested.  And, it is actually on my list to do a “tour of chandeliers” in our home.  I thought that would be fun.

Back to the story…  Do you remember the massive cabinet that we found at a salvage shop?  Well, we had that delivered a few weeks back.  And, the guy who delivered it for us, left without all of the moving blankets that he used.  So, this past week, I had an appointment in the city, which is 45 minutes away from our home.  And, I decided to drop the blankets back off at the salvage shop.  I know.. sad that I had to take a few trips back around the store to see if I found anything else exciting.

I happened to ask if he had any antique crystal chandeliers that I wasn’t seeing. He said he had one in the back that needed to be cleaned and rewired.  So I ran back with him to take a peek and asked him if he would be willing to sell it AS IS.  He threw out a price of $180.  SOLD.  It was a pretty good size and it had all of the crystals which were in a baggy attached to the top.  Since Deb and I know how to re-wire them, it was a no-brainer.

I love this one here in the bedroom.

It is the perfect size for this space and it gives us so much more light.  And we will be able to enjoy it from outside, too!

I shared how I rewired my chandelier on social media and saved it to a highlight!

I did find a few other goodies from the salvage shop that I have plans for.  Can you guess what I bought these decorative trim pieces for?  If you have been around here for any length of time, I’m sure you can.  I already sanded them to remove the finish and plan to give them a coat of poly yet.

Hint:  They are for the bathroom!

I wanted to share sources for antique chandeliers if you don’t have a salvage shop near you.  I have found SEVERAL here and here in the past years.
