You guys know if you watch our Instagram stories that we’ve been working on our camper as weather permits. And if you missed that we bought a camper, we did! It’s a fun little project to keep our minds off of THE Corona and fill our time while self-quarantined. While it was warm a few days last week, we painted the kitchen cabinets and got one coat of paint on the walls done. We haven’t touched the bathroom yet but that will be done soon.
Anyways, I wanted to stick with my favorite woods and whites theme in the camper. I know I won’t have many decor items and didn’t want EVERYTHING white. One way to get that “wood” look in the camper is through wallpaper.
I bought this peel and stick wood wallpaper for the backsplash but when it came in, I loved it so much that I thought it would look really cool as an accent wall behind the bed, also. How could you go wrong for $13? I have never used peel and stick wallpaper before so I thought it would be so much easier to start on that larger wall rather than the backsplash. So, I did it just as a practice run. We used two rolls for this wall.
Honestly, I have wallpapered more times than I can count throughout my 154 years, but like I said, I have never used the peel and stick. I was afraid it wouldn’t peel off and still be sticky. I was VERY SURPRISED at how easy this was. Deb helped me and I was very appreciative of the second set of hands. I think smaller areas could be done by yourself, but those bigger longer pieces were a little hard to control without her.
I followed all of the directions and we ended up using a credit card to smooth out any little bubbles. I was actually holding my breath the entire hour it took to do this one wall because things were going WAY TOO SMOOTH. You know how that goes. You keep wondering… OK what’s going to happen. Am I doing this correct? Am I hanging it upside down? Will it be laying on the ground in the morning? What’s going on here? ????
I knew as soon as I started working on this camper, I wanted to do something really fun with the wall cabinets in the bedroom. Let’s face it. We won’t be storing tons of clothes in here. I don’t know about you, but when we camp, we take so little clothing. We end up wearing the same thing for several days.. because we don’t really care. ????
We removed the middle cabinets so we could do something fun on this back wall. I wanted these two cabinets to look like antiques. So we took out the fake mirrors and replaced them with some old textured glass we found on heavy trash. Only you Instagram OGs will remember when we found them because it was a few years ago. I literally looked out the door of the old house and saw someone carrying out LOTS of old doors with glass in them and threw them on the trash pile. The doors were rotted but the wavy textured glass was so heavy and pretty. We ended up removing the glass for future use. We have SO MANY PIECES that we thought they would look perfect in these upper cabinets.
We did Deb’s old familiar paint technique on the doors to make new wood look old and just painted the cabinets white. We added some inexpensive knobs we found at Walmart and called it a day. I love how these cabinets and this wood wall turned out. Stay tuned for what we hang on the wall behind the bed and what else we have in mind for this space. I’m excited to show you.

Your posts about the camper make me want to run out and buy a little vintage darling and fix it up! Unfortunately, I'm not nearly as energetic as the two of you so I'll just have to live vicariously through your adventures! LOL
