I’m so excited……. and I just can’t hide it! ???? I’ve been hiding a fun project that will take place on the exterior of our house this upcoming Spring/Summer. This red brick colonial style house was built in the mid-40s. So, I am a little nervous to share my news because I know how some people feel about change. People get a little freaky when one starts talking about actually changing a MAJOR part of the structure. The colonial style is totally my jam, but the red brick, not so much. Therefore, I am working with Romabio to do a limewash on the exterior of our house to turn the red brick into a beautiful European white-washed look. There I said it. Don’t throw rotten eggs at me or call the limewash police. ????????
Romabio sent me a few color samples to test on our brick. And, to be honest, I haven’t been able to use it on the exterior yet, because…. well, hello, 40 degree temps in the beginning of November. ???? (Limewash can be removed immediately after application with a garden hose and up to five days with a power washer.)
I obviously wanted to test out my Romabio Limewash so I could get a feel of how it worked before diving right into a whole house project. While planning out my holiday tablescape, I figured I may as well kill two birds with one stone and try the product out on some clay pots, since clay pots are similar to bricks. It comes in a concentrated formula, so I followed the directions on the back of the container by adding water at a 50/50 ratio. I ended up adding it to a canning jar and shaking it so that it mixed really well.
I dampened the little clay pots with water and painted the surface with my Romabio Limewash, and let them dry. Once dried to the touch, which didn’t take long at all, I ran them under water and used my finger to remove the product in different areas creating a distressed look. It was seriously the easiest project ever.
I simply hung a paper tag on a small flocked Christmas tree and added them to the pots. It not only makes a great centerpiece but it can also be given as table favors or hostess gifts. I shared another idea yesterday using these same clay pots.
I know, I know, some of you natural brick lovers probably still have your rotten eggs in hand ready to give them a toss at me. So, I thought I would give you a few fun facts about Romabio Limewash. Because, I had several questions myself and I’m sure you do, too.
Keep watching for this major project this Spring. I will FOR SURE be blogging about it because I absolutely cannot wait. It’s something that I’ve wanted to do since we bought our home. It will transform the exterior and completely update the current look.

Love! We are in the process of painting the exterior of our lake home (beautiful gray blue with black accents) my neighborhood is freaking out cause all of theirs are the traditional yucky colors. But the home owners association loves it. ❤️

The "new/old" look will be fantastic! Kind of sounds like a charming home somewhere in Europe with German "schmear", like Chip Gaines does on Fixer Upper, only less involved process and perhaps more "budget friendly" for the average home owners, like us:-)!
YES.... That technique takes a lot more time that this does. And it gives almost the same result.

I want to do that treatment on 2 large terracotta pots for the front verandah. Do I have to keep them indoors for the five days in case it rains and eases off?
I don't believe. After, I believe, an hour, they are dry enough that you would need a power washer and some scrubbing to remove.
Oh my gosh! I just limewashed our brick home myself with @romabiopaint it was super easy and totally transformed our house! I highly recommend it...we are so happy with how it turned out!!!
