Fall Decor

Fall in the Cottage Entryway

Fall has made it’s appearance all over the cottage.  I have been working very hard getting this cottage all fall-fied.  Not kidding.  This place has never been completely decorated at once… And, it has always had a pile of something that needed to go back to storage, put away, or organized.  It is really coming along for the baby shower that we are having here at the end of the month.  A small gathering always makes us get things DONE.  We have a huge check list of to-dos that we are slowly checking off.  And, I’m so excited to share all of the spaces with you in the next couple of weeks.  So, be watching for that.

I shared the BEFORE of the entryway here at the cottage on social media.  It has NEVER been decorated or really organized, whatsoever and ended up being a huge catch-all.  I felt so overwhelmed by looking at everything at once.  So, I decided to focus on one section at a time.  The entryway was my first to tackle.  I removed everything that didn’t need to be there and started putting it all back together, all the while adding Fall.  Here is what I came up with for the cottage entryway.

Fall in the Cottage Entryway

The one thing that HAD TO stay was the antique wardrobe that we use as a coat closet.  It has a great story that I shared a few months back.  I have had that piece for a long time and used it for so many different things.  The two bushel baskets that I bought at the Springfield flea market this past Spring are now up top.  I want to grab a bunch of pumpkins yet to fill them, but that will come.  I did share a different look on the little side table a few weeks back, but I wanted a change already.

My little girls in witch hats photo was added to this huge antique frame.  It’s one of my favorite things to do each season.  It’s very inexpensive.  I shared a few more in a post a few days ago.  You will see them all pop up somewhere in the cottage soon.  The white resin pumpkin is my favorite.  I grabbed that a few weeks ago.  The other items are vintage and thrift store finds.

This antique coat rack has been in storage for a long time and thought it would be perfect here.  I actually ordered  a few more vintage hooks to add to it because there are only three, and they will be delivered soon.  I added the Hillcreek Farms sign we made last year to the top and think it fills up the space nicely.  And then I hung a few odds and ends to the hooks to make if feel a little more cozy.

The big white china cabinet….

It has a great story, also.  I think you would be shocked to see where we got it and where all it’s been.  I added my favorite wreath that I pick up this season.  It is sold out, but I found one that is really similar.

I’m telling you..  It feels like a weight is lifted off when things are put away and organized.  Deb and I say all of the time how grateful we are to be out here in the woods to get some projects done and be out of the rental.  BUT… we can hardly wait until the house is built so we have more storage.  We have ONE closet in this entire space which is for our clothes, because we knew this was a temporary living situation.

Anyway… what do you think?  It feels so homey and cozy to me.  Stay tuned for a lot more fall posts here at the cottage.
