Guess what today is!
It’s what you’ve all been waiting for. ???? Thank God you weren’t holding your breath, or you would have turned blue by now!
It took me FOREVER to get any half-way decent pictures of the family room. Let me refresh your memory. This room is roughly 28′ x 15′ and has 6 large windows. I don’t ever complain about sunny days but I am going to use that as my excuse. I may also blame the fact that it was dusty and dirty. I just picked up a giant dust bunny on our stairway so it’s past time for the cleaning lady to come. The cleaning lady is the same person as the grocery fairy, and she’s been extremely busy these last couple of weeks. ???? I may actually video this space and share it on Instagram because it’s easier to see the layout. I will keep you posted though.
You all know me by now. I don’t like to poop up reveal posts with a case of the uglies, so you MUST click back to the before pictures if you can’t remember what it looked like. Scary stuff!
We repaired and painted the walls, hung a few of my collected antique sconces and chandeliers, and installed our very inexpensive pine board flooring. And then I just “threw some junk around” to decorate. (That’s what the wifey calls my decorating.)
This room is a long rectangle with the fireplace on one of the long walls, which makes furniture placement a bit tricky. I put the couch directly across the room from the fireplace and have 2 chairs within that same grouping to make a little conversation area.
I added a few chairs on the outside short walls that can easily be pulled into the center of the room for extra seating. Believe it or not, this couch is reclining, so the coffee table is actually for the two white chairs on the rug.
We hung up two matching antique stained glass windows for privacy.
I love all the windows in this space. You can just see in these pictures how bright this room can get.
I stopped Deb in her tracks as she was kicking the legs of an antique pool table to the curb. I asked her kindly to repurpose them into lamps. So, she did… because she’s awesome like that.
People ask me a lot where I bought my slip covers. I had the two on the rug custom-made to fit these chairs, but I found the one on the right in this picture at a thrift store for $2.00. I threw it on my old lady chair and called it good.
AND… I get asked all of the time what is in the big bowl on my coffee table. In the pictures it looks like a big bowl of cereal. ???? It is our large collection of antique clay marbles. We used to find them at every flea market or antique store we shopped, but they are getting harder and harder to find.
I have lots of future plans for this space. I need a bigger rug for the room but used what I had. I definitely want to get a fitted slip cover for my old lady chair. And, I’m sweet talking the wifey into making me a fireplace mantle out of old chippy barn siding. Because this one isn’t big and gaudy enough. When I first mentioned it, her face looked like this. ???? The second time I said something about it, her face looked like this. ???? We are getting there. ???? Oh..and I also broke the news that while the fireplace is off, we will just add ship lap to this project!
This picture isn’t the greatest but I had to share with you my little Ivy girl. The sun didn’t find her…she found the sun. She can find the smallest of sun spots and plant herself there for hours. ???? I just love her! ♥
We have been working a lot outside in our garden. So, I want to show you soon how my Back to Eden Garden is doing. It’s looking pretty fine, if I should say so myself. Let me know if any of you guys planted one and how it’s doing.
I would love to know what you think in the comment section, or let me know on Facebook or Instagram.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I pledge my love.
Buh bye, now.

this is absolutely gorgeous. You guys should pursue a TV show. Seriously, you are better than lot on HGTV etc.
hahaha Thank you, Judy. It made me laugh because there are lots of curse words they would have to beep out when we are doing projects. ????
Just Beautiful - Thanks for sharing
Danelle, your family room is beautiful! Your floor is great. I like the rustic look to it, but at the same time it looks polished - a classy rustic! And I wondered about the window draperies. Are they lengths of fabric? I like the look of the ends of them(guess that makes sense) with the waviness. What are they made of? Thanks!
Thank you, Joanne. I actually bought the curtains online. They have ruffles down each side and along the bottom. I get lots of compliments on them. I included a link in the blog post to show people where I got them. They were pretty inexpensive and wash/dry very nicely. No ironing! ????????
I only today discovered your site while reading one of Prodigal Pieces' posts. I've been reading your posts all day!!! This "old lady" loves your stuff! ????
hahaha Thanks, so much! Us old ladies seem to enjoy the same reading material. ????
Hi. New follower. Can you tell me where you got your couch? I love your home and style.
Thank you so much! It actually is a LaZboy. ????
