Fun Finds in Brown County, Indiana

Antique wooden utensils - Deb and DanelleAntique wooden utensils - Deb and Danelle

Have you been watching stories over on Instagram?  We celebrated my birthday yesterday… by coming to Brown County, Indiana for a few days.  It is one of our favorite places.  We have visited for YEARS.  Actually, we used to come every single year to get away from the madness of it all.  You know what I am talking about.  Work, traffic noise, the every day hum drum.  We are actually having flashbacks.  I remember having conversations while sitting in a hot tub here in Brown County saying.. “I want to live amongst the trees.”

We have said that for years.  We wanted to live with a lot of nature around us.  And feel secluded.  And be able to look out our windows and see really nothing but nature.  Well, guess what.  It all came true.  That’s the reason we feel so at home here.

Our mission this week was to relax and forget about regular life.  (Although I still have some work to do.)  We want to go antique shopping, thrifting, etc.  And just enjoy the scenery.  We decided to stop at one of our favorite, pretty sketchy, flea markets in Martinsville, Indiana.  It is called TraderBakers.    It is filled with new and vintage items both.  If you walk through with your eyes wide open, you will find lots of fun stuff.

Fun Finds in Brown County, Indiana

I found a TON of wooden kitchen items at a great price. You probably already know that I collect them.  They are all stored in either crocks or wooden boxes in the kitchen.  These are the items I started collecting when I was around 20.  I could find them at garage sales for less than a dollar.  So they are pretty special to me.

And, I LOVE crocks.  Really any type!  I have a huge collection because they are so versatile.

This wooden Jack Daniels barrel lid was the first thing I saw when we walked in the store.  I think it will be so cute sitting in the middle of the table used as a tray.

I loved this crock stand…. and believe it is new, but I think it will look perfect with my woods and white theme I have going on.

Oh my gosh.. have you ever in your life seen wooden dumbbells?  We both fell in love with these and also thought they would match our woods and whites.

I found an antique basket like one I already have in my laundry room cabinet and another chamber pot.

What do you think of our antique haul?  What is your favorite thing?

  • Garage sales are still a favorite treasure hunt. Fun fact: My brother was an auctioneer and he found the coolest things at estate sales. Some of my most favorite pottery has been purchased at garage/yard sales. It never gets old!
