Can you believe it? I didn’t leave you hanging for 89 years with a room reveal. I’ve said it before that room reveals take a long time to write because there are lots of pictures to edit. BUT, let’s be honest. How many pictures can be taken for a half bathroom reveal?
Six…to be exact!
If you missed the before pictures of this area, you must look at them now. Yes, that was an order. ????
We ended up turning the previous laundry room into a mudroom-ish area. We don’t really store our shoes, coats, purses, etc, but it’s the first room you come into from the garage, so that’s what we call it. We ended up doubling the size of the original half bathroom by using some of that area.
I definitely knew I wanted a sliding door because of the limited amount of space. This is a door that we have had in our stash forever. I believe we’ve moved this sucker 4 times. ????????♀️ I had it leaning up against a wall with a wreath in our previous home just using it in our decor. And then it sat in storage while we figured out what in the hell we are doing with our lives. We still haven’t figured it out, by the way.
Oh….and this is the decorative sliding door kit we used. Deb said it was the easiest installation ever.
The roof leaked so bad in this area that it rotted out the previous bathroom door. I don’t even have pictures because everything happened so fast. We owned the house for a few weeks before we even made it to this room. Deb opened up the door, and the entire frame fell out over her head. We ended up replacing several floor joists along with obviously building a new wall doubling the size of the original bathroom.
The plumber was asking all kinds of silly questions…like what vanity we were using and what height it will be. I stood there looking at him like this: ????????♀️
I swear to you.
I went out in the garage, which is where we were storing several pieces of antique furniture that were left in the house that we were keeping. I said, “That piece looks good.” So he measured for it and ran the plumbing accordingly.
Not even kidding. That’s how overwhelmed I was at the time. I knew that I would love the look, but really put not one ounce of thought in the whole process. I took the measurements of the top so I could go home and search online for a sink that would fit.
I had my Pinterest inspiration pictures and knew I wanted shiny, silver sinks for our bathrooms. I finally found the perfect sink that would fit in both our upstairs full bathroom, and this half bathroom. And, believe it or not, it worked with the piece of furniture I randomly picked from the hoarder stash in the garage. Deb says I get lucky. I always tell her it’s talent. ???? We went with these cross handle faucets for both bathrooms and love them.
We used the original knotty pine boards from our kitchen on the back wall in both bathrooms.
Of course, we ended up purchasing new toilets and went with Kohler’s comfort height. I didn’t know there were so many options but when I saw these, I thought they were cool. And believe it or not, we’ve had several people say, “Wow…your toilets are fancy.” ???? I guess they are fancy…as fancy as a toilet can get anyways.
We, of course, like a broken record, painted the bathroom Sherwin Williams, Pearly White, and installed our inexpensive pine boards on the floor and called them flooring. ????????♀️
So…. how appropriate to “poop up” a bathroom. If you are a little newbie to the blog, that’s what Deb calls my decorating. She will do her part which is…. to do what I say. ???? Kidding. Her part includes installing the sinks, faucets, and lighting….you know, contractor work. She then will say, “Alright…. it’s time for you to poop it up.” That means I need to throw all of my shit around and call it decorating.
I knew I didn’t need much storage in this little half bathroom. And, the little vanity I chose would be plenty. I have carried this little glass cabinet above the toilet from house to house over the years and thought it fit perfect here to display random things. These are items that really feel like clutter to me elsewhere. Some of the pieces were left in the house but I thought they were pretty cool.
The mirror is an antique piece we found at a garage sale for $2.00. The chandelier is vintage. You KNOW how I feel about chandeliers. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Give me ALL the chandies in the world. NOW. I linked a few options that would be absolutely adorable in a small bathroom here.

Thanks, Kim. It was something left in the house and I thought it was really cool. It's a vintage "nursery thermometer." Hang it on the wall and it gives you the temp inside the house or you can use it for formula tempt, etc.
I ???????????? this bathroom! Everything fits together perfectly. My aunt had a collection of those women's heads with some really lovely ones. The woman my uncle married afterwards sold them at a garage sale she had (that we didn't know about, of course) for around 10¢ a piece!

Awwww, thank you. If it's old dirty smell, soap and water has always done the trick for us. I've used that orange glow to clean antiques which works really well, too. If it's cigarette smoke, that never comes out. ???? I don't buy anything with that smell. And I don't buy really much with fabric from garage sales unless I can wash it in the washer or I really do the nose test on it before.
I do trust all of the ideas you've presented to your post. They are really convincing and can certainly work. Still, the posts are very brief for novices. May just you please extend them a bit from subsequent time? Thank you for the post.

I’m left hanging… what is this tantalizing post on small chandeliers that’s mentioned but no longer an active link?? Were the lights themselves discontinued (it happens I know). But I’d love to hear what you recommend for those of us who don’t rewire our own antique lights (perhaps I should?).
Oh darn it, I guess I may have to remake this list based on current options! Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I'll try not to leave you hanging much longer! I always recommend trying to rewire an antique light, because it is so much easier than you would imagine. If you don't rewire, I just recommend examining the existing wire for damage and don't leave it on when you leave house for an extended period of time, just as a safety precaution.
