Fall Decor

Inexpensive Way to have New Fall Artwork

You know I love decorating for pretty much every season.  Some seasons are more elaborate than others.  I usually go all our for fall and winter.  After the holiday looks get put away, I like to simplify every room.  But, one thing I always do is switch out my pictures.  I found an inexpensive way to have new seasonal artwork years ago and I’ve been doing it every since.

Inexpensive Way to have New Fall Artwork

We used to have a storefront where we flipped furniture and made one-of-a-kind home decor items.  When we closed that shop in 2013, I missed flipping furniture.  So…. I made a business selling things on Facebook Marketplace.  And, I did pretty well.  I would paint and redo furniture that I found for a great price and make a profit.  I remember finding a large picture frame with a really ugly picture in it.  But, the frame was really nice.  So I painted the frame and searched for the perfect picture to add to it, and make some money.

Since it was my business and the goal was to make money, I couldn’t keep the things, even if I wanted to.  But, dang.. on my search for the picture for the frame, I found the cutest cow picture that was a downloadable print.  It was on Etsy for just a few dollars.  I had absolutely no clue where to get it printed or even how to do it.  Back then I wasn’t tech savvy at all.  After a bit of research, I found a 50% off coupon for a printed poster at Walgreens.  So that was the plan.  I did the math and figured out that if I sold 2 framed pictures with the cow prints for a certain price, I could get one printed off for myself.  And, it wouldn’t even cut into my profit amounts that I was very strict about getting on everything that I sold.

So that was the first time that I figured out how inexpensively it was to have fun and seasonal artwork.

Seasonal Artwork

Once I realized that you can buy ANY KIND of artwork for a few dollars and have it printed, my life changed.  I use all of my antique frames that I have found at flea markets, garage sales, and thrift stores for seasonal downloadable art.  And, I’ve shared them a lot throughout the years.

Do you remember the rabbit prints that I found for spring when we were in the rental?  I also shared them here.   And, the ones for winter?  I have used them several times throughout the years.

Who could forget these Halloween prints from a few years back?

I cannot wait to pull those out this year.

Tip:  Keep your eyes peeled for frames at thrift stores. A lot of times the not so pretty picture is all you see.  But, focus on the frame.  And, if it’s not the right color for your decor, give it a quick coat of spray paint.

I rounded up several downloadable fall pictures in case you want to try it.  And, if you are in the furniture flipping business, these go over really well.  You can normally buy the download for a few dollars and have them printed wherever you choose. I usually use our local print shop, but you can use Walgreens, Staples, CVS, etc.

  • can you elaborate on what type of paper you choose? matte shiny other? also do you have to choose a pixels or something when having printed? can't wait to try this...

    • It is all a personal preference, but I like to print on a matte or other low-gloss option. The download can be resized into several different dimensions for printing to match whatever frame size you may have on hand.

  • I am having an issue with the link for the winter prints in your post. It takes me to a DIY headboard post and I did see a link for one deer print. Am I just overlooking them?

    • You aren't! There is something wrong there. I will have to look into it. Thank you for letting me know!

  • Wow, so many beautiful fall prints! I am so inspired! Thanks for sharing all of these links. I have a lot of antique and vintage frames from my grandmother and many I’ve picked up here and there. I’ve always LOVED old frames! I know you shared this idea a long time ago but I’m finally ready to take it on. Just wanted to also say that I’ve always loved you guys and I’m so grateful you share so much and so often on your blog so I still feel connected since I haven’t been on ig in a few years. Although I really miss your actual stories, between yours and Liz Marie’s blogs I am able to stay so inspired. Keep it coming!

    • Oh, I think it would be amazing for you to be able to use your grandmother's frames! I'm so glad that you are still able to follow along, even without IG!
