I have shared so many different posts on our kitchen.  Our kitchen range hood was completed several months ago which was a bit controversial.  People couldn’t figure out what the heck we were going to do with this big box on our wall.  It wasn’t until Deb got it all trimmed out and the large corbels added that people finally saw our vision.  I talked about our kitchen island before and after I gave it a makeover, along with our pull-out drawers we had custom made.  And, when we installed the antique foot rail and bar stools.   We hung curtains in the kitchen and love the coziness it brought to the room.  Oh.. and I shared our unlacquered faucets in this post, and how much we love them.  There is one thing I have never shared here in this space.  And it’s something that I get asked about almost every day.  And, that is our kitchen lights above our island.

Kitchen Lights Above our Island

I have to tell you the backstory of these lights before going any further.  We were at our friend’s house, who also happens to live in the House on Winchester.  Can you believe it?  Her style is almost identical to mine.  The only difference is she loves color.  So think the same decor only darker.  But we love the same things:  antiques, dishes, stained glass, old furniture. We noticed two lights hanging over her kitchen island.  And both of us commented how cool they are. She said that they were once white, but she had them painted darker before they were hung.  

We got home and Deb told me to ask her where she got them because she loved them.  She loved them so much that she asked me every single day until I finally text her.  When I did, I verified she wouldn’t care if I copied. Ha!  She didn’t.

And, guess what.  I found them on Antique Farmhouse.  I couldn’t believe it.  They match our woods and whites color scheme so well.  The shades are made of a lightweight wood and have pretty cut-outs that give us a great glow at night.  I love the 2 chandelier type light bulbs in these lights and the chippy black paint.  It makes them look authentically old. 

These lights are pretty unique and give our kitchen that dramatic look that I love.  And almost seems like they were made specifically for our kitchen.  How gorgeous would these pendant lights look over a bed or a dining room table, too.
