Fall Decor

Layered Vintage Fall Look

We are full into fall here in the cottage.  I really wasn’t sure we would still be here for fall, however, we should be moved in way before Christmas.  And you know what that means. 🎄 Anyway, today I wanted to share a layered vintage fall look that I created a few days ago.

By the way, I have all of  my fall looks rounded up in one spot to make it easier for you to find.  Click here and make sure you didn’t miss any.  I have shared so many different fall looks throughout the years including several mantel ideas, a few DIYs for fall…. like this sign and these concrete pumpkins.  I also rounded up a few different things like fall scents and a bunch of different Samsung Frame TV downloads for fall.  We have one on our television right now and it’s so dang pretty.

OK… let’s get on to the layered vintage fall look.

Layered Vintage Fall Look

Do you recognize this piece of furniture?  It was the kitchen island in the rental we lived in for a year and a half.  Well, this piece got a makeover during that time. Boy those were the days.  We struggled through that year and a half.  Not only because it was a rental and we are used to home improvement projects, but it was during the year 2020, soooooooooooo!

This piece works perfectly here in the cottage to divide this wide open space into sections.  It actually divides the living and dining area.  We bought an antique sideboard from a friend and had no place to store it, so behind this piece it went.  It has a large mirror attached to it so I disguised it by propping another mirror on the back of it, which created the first layer.

We are completely out of wall space here as well.  And I had to use one of my favorite fall and halloween prints so that was my second layer.  I ended up draping a felt pumpkin garland that I found a few years back over both pieces.

Other fall goodies….

I added a riser that I found at The Nested Fig (code DANDD10).  On top of that, I displayed my pumpkins that I made look like old time pottery and a little antique dresser piece that my sister found for me in North Carolina.  I love adding little pieces of furniture on top of other furniture.

Every space of mine usually gets some type of candlesticks.  This isn’t any different.  I added the candlesticks that I found at a thrift store and then eventually gave them a makeover.  They look so much better.

I found this little wooden jack-o-lantern bucket at a thrift store a few years back and love him.  I remember finding it at a random time during the year.  When I brought him home, Deb asked if I lost my mind because it wasn’t time for Halloween.  I was so happy to pull him out of my fall tubs months later.

Below are a few similar pumpkin buckets that I found.  Click the pic for the links:

Tip for thrifting…

Don’t overlook the holiday section all times of the year at your local thrift stores.  Because a lot of times, people do.. and you can find some of the best items to store for the next holiday.

Hopefully you got some ideas from this post on my vintage layered fall look that you can add to your own spaces.
