Antique Finds

My Antique Finds this Week

I have’t done an antique haul for awhile.  We don’t go antique shopping every week, of course. But when we do, I usually find a few little things to add to my collections. If you love seeing people’s antique hauls, I have a bunch of mine posted.  I personally love to see what people find in their area of the country.  And, what they paid for it.  Because it’s fun to compare prices.  And, I also like to see what they have planned for them. So, I wanted to share my antique finds this week.

But first, speaking of antique finds.  Did you see the massive cabinet that we found a few weeks ago.  It’s going to go in the dining room to fill a huge expansive wall.  That baby is getting delivered today!  It will be dropped off at the workshop (aka the cottage) so that we can work on it a bit.  I am so excited to get that piece in the house, which is when I will start focusing on putting the dining room together.

Let’s get on to what I found.

My Antique Finds this Week

We have a cleaning lady come once a month.  When she is scheduled, Deb and I plan our errands for that morning:  appointments, returns, sometimes breakfast, etc.  Yesterday, we went out for breakfast at a little coffee shop, did some returns, and stopped at an antique / thrift store.  It’s one of pretty good size and they have a wide range of items. I usually walk through several times to make sure I don’t miss something.

Have you heard this rule?  When you get through an entire store, walk the opposite way down the aisles on the way back out.  You will see things coming from the opposite way that you didn’t see the first time through.  I heard that rule a long time and I follow it quite often. And I did find a few goodies on the way back through.  Try it.

The first time through… I found this antique brown pitcher.

I have a large collection of these and pick them up when I see them around $10-$12.  This one was marked $8 which is a steal.  The brown bowl was also a steal at $8.  They are another thing that I pick up randomly when I see them for a few dollars.  I have a large collection of those as well.  They look pretty in our large antique white china cabinet.  Which, by the way, has a great story to it.

I saw this silver piece for $10 and I immediately knew what I would do with it.  I am going to make a homemade candle and fill this with wax and 6 wicks.  How cool would that be?  I ordered mine from Antique Candle Co. I do have a code for you to save money, if interested.  DANELLE10 will give you 10% off.  I will for sure keep you posted on this little project.  But, I’m excited to do this.

Whenever I find something with glass crystals on it, I get it.  No matter what it is.  We are always looking for extra ones to add to lights, etc.  These are smaller, too, which are great to have.  This little plastic lamp was on $3.  So, this was a no-brainer.  I will disassemble this lamp and keep the glass base for something, too.  The rest of it is plastic.

And those are my fun antique finds for this week.  I don’t know about you, but I am itching to attend garage sales and flea markets!  It usually hits me this time of year!

  • Cruising through in both directions works for me too...I'm such a scan as I pass shopper (unless something calls me in)...I can't wait to see your 'large' piece styled in your home. Love everything you gals do and share !! 😊

  • I am retired and have gone antiquing my whole adult life. I want just once before I die to find a couple of pieces at those prices - haha other folks find them too so I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong! 😁

  • Won’t a metal bowl get hot with a candle burning in it? Love you two..both so talented, and love the humor!

  • I’m a seasoned antique huntress and never thought to go both ways down the aisles. I’ll be doing that next time like maybe today. Thanks for the tip.
