Our New Home Coming in 2022

Have you been around since the beginning of us talking about building?  Do you remember the big decision we made in 2020?  In the midst of the pandemic, we had some major decisions to make.  It’s the reason we built Deb’s workshop first and moved here about a year ago.  Can you believe that?  It has been almost a year?  Time sure flies.

We are so happy to be here.  This past summer, we did all of the projects that we have been dreaming of.  We put up our pergola swing, we added a little sidewalk by the garage, installed a lamp post by the cottage, and a big project that we weren’t planning on this year, we dug the pond.  Oh… I forgot that we added a deck on the back of the cottage and one by the pond.  Dang, we got a lot done.  ????  When you are in the midst of it, it doesn’t feel that way, but looking back, we did.    Do you remember all of these projects?

We have decided 2022 is the year we are going to get this new house started and done!  And here is what we have come up with thus far.

Our New Home Coming in 2022

If you have been following along over on social media, you have already seen this photo on our stories.  But, I wanted to document it here.  We are meeting with a builder this coming Thursday to get an estimate.  Providing that comes back as what we expect it to be, this is the outside design.  It is going to have the same white metal roof as the cottage has.   And, I’m not a fan of the red brick porch floor personally, so it will be more of a warm brown.

Did you notice to two fireplaces?  It is actually four, because they are both double.  One will be between the living room and master bedroom, and the other will be in between the kitchen and the dining room.  So we will soon be on the hunt for huge antique fireplace mantels to incorporate in our new home. If you have any leads to ones you think we would love, please email us.

And… I don’t know if I have ever shared this here, but when I was young, I absolutely LOVED home decor magazines.   I had a few monthly subscriptions.  I would tear out every picture that I loved and kept them in a manilla folder….  the old time version of Pinterest.  Almost every picture that I tore out of kitchens had a fireplaces.  We didn’t tell our architect this information.  It is like she read our minds.

I will be sharing the floor plan once we get the rest of the plans back so you can see that as well.  But, I think we have it all figured out.  We had one small change as of a few day ago.  So keep watching for that in the days to come.

  • Oh my! Not sure how I missed this ????. I LOVE IT!!!!! Of course, my eyes went straight to the screened in porch????????????????. And I think you will love the MB on main floor{{as I am trying to figure out my stairs with a partial knee replacement}} And those fireplaces will be ????????????

    • Thank you Mary! I have a feeling a lot of our time will be spent in that screened in porch... As for the MB, I think we will too.

    • Won't it though? I love watching that kind of stuff. And I love that we will be able to share it all. I can hardly wait, it has been a long 2 years waiting for this. Deb and I are absolutely thrilled!

  • Love ❤️ the house. Looks amazing and can’t wait to see how you decorate it. Have you thought about the German schmear look for the brick? Just saw in a magazine where someone did it with a house similar to yours and it looks so good. I’m sure whatever you both do it will look incredible.

  • I am so happy for the two of you. I know as long as I have followed this has been the dream you have waited ever so patiently for and I can’t think of two people who deserve it more. You both are just amazing. Thank you for all you share and I can’t wait to see what’s in your bright future.

    • Well if this isn't the sweetest thing I have ever heard. Grabbing the tissues! Thank you so so much Kristina, messages like these make our whole week. You are so kind! We can't even wait for the new house, it is going to be so amazing.
