Quick and Easy Thanksgiving Fireplace Mantel

The holidays are quickly approaching.  I cannot even believe it how time travels.  The Christmas tubs are out of storage and sitting here in the entryway of the cottage.  Deb grabbed everything the last time she ran to the storage unit, but she left the larger trees.  Because I wanted to get everything else decorated and then we will slide in the larger trees.  PLUS… I bought a new tree this year.  And I am thrilled.

It is a 7 1/2′ Artificial Norwegian Spruce and she is a beauty.  She will look so pretty in our new home, which we hope to be in by next Christmas.  Keep watching for her arrival next week.  I will talk all about it here and on social media.

I decided to throw together another quick and easy fireplace mantel idea that would look perfect for Thanksgiving.  This is the beginning of a little refresh of this space.  Because, you know me, I love to move things around.

Quick and Easy Thanksgiving Fireplace Mantel

I wanted a very simple looking mantel, so I used some wooden candlesticks and pillar candles.  Battery operated candles are my go-to  but I decided to go with the real flame.  I forgot how much I missed them.  Obviously, it is safer, but it was fun for a change.  And then I added several real pumpkins ranging in size and color.  And, of course switched out the picture on our frame television to give it an entirely new look.  I talked about the television when I shared another Thanksgiving mantel idea.

Do you remember when we bought this mantel?  It was first used as a headboard in the rental.  And then we stored it behind the couch.  It is pretty much the first fireplace mantel I have been able to decorate in a few years.  We moved it here in the cottage which is more than likely where it will stay.

Do you want to know a secret?

We are in the midst of working with the architect and planning the house.  The layout that we love actually has TWO fireplaces, which are double sided.  We both LOVE that idea…  (providing it’s not an extra $4.5 million ????)  We will be able to see the fireplace in the kitchen and dining room.  And from the living room and sun room area.  ????  The thought of that makes me so happy.  We want them real wood burning fireplaces because we miss that so much.  The electric one we have here in the cottage is wonderful, but there is nothing like the smell and sound of real wood burning.

I know this Thanksgiving fireplace mantel isn’t rocket science.  But I thought maybe it would spark some creativity of your own.  Because I still love seeing other people put together different looks.

So basically what I am telling you is this.. grab all of the pumpkins you have laying around the yard and the house and stack them on the mantel.  And, add some tall candlesticks and candles to the mix and you have a quick and easy Thanksgiving mantel idea.

Stay tuned for all of the Christmas decor.  I am THRILLED to share lots of different looks with you all.

  • Am I confused or are you saying you’re going to build a new house. Please correct me.
Also are the chairs by the fireplace , are they new? I don’t remember them.
I love the cottage and all your decorating.
I love your videos and try to watch them all. So much fun!
    Take care.

    • hahah thank you. And yes. This cottage will be Deb's workshop, storage, our canning kitchen, etc. This was never intended to be a forever place to live. We built this first to get out of the rental when prices were very high. Our house should be started this coming summer.
