You all know we are going to Mexico at the end of the month.  I mean… I’ve only talked about it a few times. ????  I shared my Beach Necessities post last week.  It has lots of things that we are taking to our beach destination.  Believe it or not, Deb and I are both very light packers.  I know that sounds crazy being two women, but we’ve lugged jam-packed suitcases on vacation before and didn’t wear half of the items.

When getting ready for vacations, I love to purchase a few new pieces but stick with 3-4 colors in my entire wardrobe capsule.  That way, several of  my pieces will be worn multiple times during the trip. And, they will all be mixed and matched.  As I was sashaying around Target for a few other items, (I mean who runs through Target…???)  I noticed several pieces that were adorable.  And they happened to be in my 4 basic colors I am taking on the trip.

So… I thought I would share with you.  Because, I feel so frustrated trying to find cute clothes that don’t make me look like I’m a 53 year old going on 17, or a 53 year old headed to the nursing home.  It’s so ridiculous.  Will SOMEONE please make a cute clothing line focusing ONLY on us mid-lifers?  Thank you in advance!

Spring Capsule Wardrobe from Target

My four basic colors for this spring capsule wardrobe are black, white, cream, and cognac.  I think they are all good transition colors from Winter.  Every item runs true to size.  And, disregard the filthy mirror.  You can tell a little kid was licking it.  ????

Outfit 1

This outfit happens to be similar to what I am planning to wear on the plane.  These cute shoes were actually very comfortable.  And, these happen to be my favorite distressed black jeans.  I bought them earlier in the year and wear them all the time.

OHHHH… AND… this cardigan.  It is my favorite.  I’ve worn it so much already.

Outfit 2

Pretend these are white shorts.  I didn’t see any that I liked yet.  And, in our area, there really wasn’t many Spring items out, but it was still fun trying on what I did find.

Outfit 3

This was THE CUTEST jumpsuit.  It was so comfy and would be easy to make this a little dressier by adding some pretty jewelry.  If you noticed, I kept the same shoes, purse, and sweater.

Outfit 4

Again, you can pretend these pants are shorts because I would totally wear a pair of white shorts with this.  AND…this shirt is ADORABLE and I wish I would have gotten it.  I still may!

Outfit 5

This tee-shirt dress and sweater ended up coming home with me.  Along with the pin striped t-shirt.  I could actually get this dress in several colors.  Sometimes tee shirt dresses make me feel like I am wearing a tent dress.  This is a little more fitted at the top so it still looks adorable without the sweater.  I have no clue where my photo went without it, but it is gone.

  • These outfits were adorable! They looked great on you. Thanks for sharing. I’m going to take a trip to target.

  • Cute outfits! I love how you kept the same shoes and bag and they went well with everything. I too used to overpack for every trip. For each outfit I’d pack a different pair of shoes and handbags. Crazy! Now I limit myself to a sandal, similar to what you’re showing, a pair of flip flops and flats. Thank you for sharing. ????

    • Oh thank you. I usually do the same. I take a pair of tennis shoes, flip flops, and sandals and make sure everything coordinates.

  • Thank you for taking the time to go shopping and passing along those cute outfits! I hate shopping and I'm terrible at it. By the way....YOU HAVE LOST WEIGHT! I hope along with the weight loss(or inches) you are feeling better! A big thank you to you & Deb for all the laughs you give me!

    • Awwww. thank you. The AIP has toned down so much of inflammation. I have lost about 10 pounds, but think lots of it is the AIP since I have less swelling.

  • I agree 100% - the struggle is real when your 53 to find clothes that are age appropriate! Love your style!!!

    • Thank you. It is ridiculous. I wish someone would design clothes focused only on mid-life so we don't have to go to 65 stores to find 3 pieces.

  • I love all of these outfits! We have similar taste in clothes! Thank you for doing this because I have a $25 gift card from Target to spend! :)

  • These are great looks and coordinates so well, perfect for traveling!! Your hard work at the gym really shows, you look great! Need to check out ???? this week, thanks for sharing!!
