We hung these stained glass windows in our kitchen and I love how they turned out. They are a little controversial over on social media, but what isn’t anymore?  Ha!  I heard, “Why would you want to cover up any views?” more times than I thought I would. To be honest, there isn’t really a view out these windows, especially during the winter months.  And the funny thing is, I have heard this a million times, too.  “I don’t know how you can stand not having any blinds on your windows.”  We are all different.  And, we all want something different in our homes.  Plus.. they can be taken down during the summer months, if we choose.

Stained Glass Windows in our Kitchen

Our weekend was a little strange.  Both of us are go, go, go type of people.  And on Saturday, we both felt like we wanted a slow day. We ended up getting a few things done on Saturday morning and then took a nap… which is highly unlikely of us.  It was a fabulous nap.  You know the ones.  You think you will nap for a quick 15 minutes.  And you wake up almost 2 hours later completely relaxed and feeling fabulous.  That was our Saturday afternoon couch nap. 

We worked a bit on our massive antique cabinet this weekend.  I stripped some of the paint off of it and have a little more to go. I shared a checklist of things that need done to the big cabinet. If you don’t know what big cabinet I am talking about, make sure to check out this post.  We are so excited to get it done, in the house, and styled.

Why did I want these windows hung here?

I wanted to try these stained glass windows here in this spot because I have two matching ones.  And, I thought it would be a perfect place for them.  The road is directly outside of these windows.  Granted, we live on a country road with not a ton of traffic.  But, Deb has made the comment that she would like some type of privacy. One of my favorite things to do is hang stained glass in front of the windows for that reason. But then there is Ivy.  She spends a lot of time looking out this one window when we are cooking or eating at the island.  Normally, we even move the little stool that Deb’s dad made years ago over to give her a little more room. 

Deb attached them directly to the trim around the window. She used eye hooks and open hooks which is a really easy way to do it.   And no.  It doesn’t stress me out to make a hole in our trim. Ha!  If we want these windows taken down in the future, it is very simple to patch a hole in the trim and paint right over it.  And, it takes 2 minutes.

I think this is a perfect solution for everyone. I got my stained glass windows hung which makes the kitchen a lot more cozy.  It gives a little bit of a block from the road, but we can still see out the bottom half of the window.  And Miss Ivy is still happy because she can stand there and patrol her property… and watch any of the squirrels or chipmunks that she sees.
