The Best Natural Deodorant and Why You Need to Detox Your Armpits

Do you see a theme this week?  It’s all about The Detox!  First it was The Whole 30 to detox from junk food, and then it was 15 ways to detox your cluttered mind.

You all know that being 150 years old, different issues arise.  I’ve chatted about this subject over on Instagram and had an OVERWHELMING response.  It was a really hot topic.  You guys…….  true blue…. us mid-lifers have really stinky armpits.  ????

(Let me start this post off by saying, I’m not a medical doctor.  I have not at all backed up this post with extensive medical research.  I’m only sharing my own experiences and my own personal discussions I’ve had with friends.  So, basically, don’t send the “you’re-not-a-doctor police” ????????‍♀️ after me because, I know.  I’m not claiming to be one.)

A Little Story from the Past

I need to give you some back history and the reason for this post.   I have a friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer several years back.  At the first appointment after her diagnosis, the doctor asked her what type of deodorant/antiperspirants she used.  Because, he believes there is a direct link between antiperspirants and breast cancer.

(Again…. don’t send the “you’re-not-a-doctor police” ????????‍♀️over here because I KNOW. I’m passing on some information that I follow, because in my book, I would rather be safe than sorry.)

We all know  that “deodorants” prevent us from stinking up the joint, and “antiperspirants” prevent us from sweating like a pig. ????  Specifically, the ingredient in antiperspirants that stop perspiration is the metal, aluminum.  One problem with aluminum is that it temporarily plugs our sweat ducts under our arms.

Well……where do the toxins go that are being released if our sweat ducts are clogged?  ????

Long story short, my friend’s oncologist recommended she use the Crystal Body Deodorant Stick  that will allow her body to properly perspire but will control stinkage.  To this day, she still uses it.   I used the Crystal stick for several years and it worked extremely well for me….. for a while.

Why You Need to Detox Your Armpits

I’m now 150 years old and just downright stink.  ???? I don’t know if it is “The Menopause” (which according to my doctor I haven’t even begun – ????) or what.  But that crystal doesn’t control my current level of armpit stinkage.  ????

I smell like a hog barn.   ????????????

Remember… we all have been clogging up our sweat ducts for years with different products.   My research suggested that natural deodorants work best after an armpit detox.  (Don’t even… ????????‍♀️)     An armpit detox involves pulling out all of the nasties by using a clay mask.

I found that Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay is perfect for an armpit detox.  I won’t go into all of the benefits of this healing clay, but it has multiple uses.  Along with the armpit ???? detox, I mix it with raw apple cider vinegar and use it on my face.  It gives me an instant tightening of my skin.  So even if you don’t smell, I highly recommend it for that.  It’s less than $10.

The Best Natural Deodorant

Because I truly cannot be the only one with armpits that smell like a hog barn, ???? I wanted to share my results with you.   Through all of my own personal trials and tribulations of different brands of deodorant, I have found Native Deodorant to be my tried and true favorite.  They have different scents to choose from and even one that is unscented if you are into that.  I’ve been using the coconut/vanilla scent, but want to order lavender/rose next.  I, obviously, still sweat (it’s a good thing) but I do not smell.  ????  And for the record.  I’ve done one armpit detox before I started using Native and another one this past weekend.  Because… hey…it’s a new year!   Let’s start fresh.

Obviously, your results may be different than mine.  This is my personal experience with my own hog barn issues, but so far so good.  It will be interesting to see what happens as time goes on.  I will for sure keep you posted.

Thank you so much for stopping by and listening to my old lady complaints.  But, hey… if I can help someone else out, I’m all for it!  I pledge my love!  ❤️

Buh bye now, said in an old lady’s voice who is wondering what else I can detox.  ????

  • I have been using native deodorant for over a year.
I love the way that it work. Last summer I ordered
Rosemary and something else, oh my not for me
I love rosemary but didn’t want to smell it all the time. I do love the coconut though. And I love the email they send when you order
    From them.

  • Ok, I'm going to give this natural deodorant a try. I've tried many brands. And I end up smelling like a barn yard. Also ordered the detox clay. Kelli get fingers crossed.

  • I've just started using it, so far I love it! I got the coconut vanilla, can't wait to try a new one next time! Thanks for sharing Danielle! ????

  • Thank you! I’m currently waiting for my first order of a natural deodorant. Was going to make some but thought I’d order one first then when it ran out use the container for the homemade. ????????‍♀️ Plus if I like it I’ll have a lazy fall back ????????
I’ve never needed deodorant. Never really sweat that much either. Enter year 150.... ????????????????????. So annoying.... thanks for this post. Will definitely detox my barn animal first

    • hahaha OMG, same here. I really did not use it before the age of 150. My pits can smell up a room. ????

  • I just made my deodorant. So far so good! Arrowroot, bees wax, essential oil and other stuff. I like the fragrance and it seems to help me not smell like a goat pen.

    • hahahaha Please keep me posted on that. ???? I really would love to know how it holds up to hog barn.

  • I’ve heard the same thing about deodorants, that they are link to Breast cancer.
I guess I’ve been blessed because I don’t have to wear deodorant, if I do use deodorant I will smell like I haven’t put any on!!! I guess I’m a freaky, I have heard of anyone else like that but my husband because I had him go with out for a weekend and no sweat or smell from him either.

  • First of all Danielle, in my book with the whole 30 and this armpit investigation/tutorial you’ve held you DO qualify as a doctor. I’m 150 and a 1/2. WTH? The smell? Make it stop. MFer. Please forgive my bad mouthed initialing. Soooo, got the destinker Native a few months ago. I do enjoy it. Right off the bat of the day, I’ve convinced myself I’m starting off healthy. Now, you’re right (and of course you are), it takes the POW out of sweat! I still sweat, but u can’t prove it because you’re not gonna pin the smell on me! Also, thumbs up to Native for solving this horrendous problem. #native. #tryityoulllikeit. #Drdaniellesaysandknowsso.
