Vintage Cookbook Holder Makeover

Vintage Cookbook Holder Makeover

I picked up this little ditty at a flea market for $2.00 and could hardly contain my excitement because I knew that $2.00 was a bargain.  I, also, knew that painting it would make it look completely different.  ????????‍♀️  What doesn’t look better with a coat of white paint?  I’m sorry that I have no before picture for reference.  But just know it was really dark wood and had two janky little knobs.

Vintage Cookbook Holder

I picked up this little ditty at a flea market for $2.00 and could hardly contain my excitement because I knew that $2.00 was a bargain.  I, also, knew that painting it would make it look completely different.  ????????‍♀️  What doesn’t look better with a coat of white paint?  I’m sorry that I have no before picture for reference.  But just know it was really dark wood and had two janky little knobs.

I started by removing “said” janky little knobs and then dry brushed it with white paint that I already had on hand from another project.  After the paint was dry, I sanded it to make it look a little distressed.  I dug around in my antique handle collection and replaced those janky little knobs that once belonged on a dresser.

How do we use the cookbook holder?

When this little project was complete, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.  These old ladies have our regular evening pills that we take.  But I have only one that I am supposed to take in the morning on an empty stomach a half hour before eating breakfast.  I kept forgetting to take it because I had it right by the kitchen sink.  I don’t know about you, but first thing in the morning, I’m not craving water……  GIVE ME ALL THE COFFEE!  ☕

I decided to use the drawers of my little cookbook holder to house my morning medicine which happens to be directly beside my coffee maker.  I seldom forget anymore.  Oh… and like my normal fashion, I pooped up the top of it with my vintage coffee grinder and a crock full of vintage wooden spoons.  I have the need to poop everything up!  ????

This little cookbook holder could even be used in the bathroom for the same thing…. or for hair pins….  make-up….  really anything!

What do you think of this little project?  Let me know in the comments or chat with me over on Facebook and Instagram.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I appreciate it so much and pledge my love to you!

Buh bye now…

  • Perfect and how wonderful that you remember your pills...I need something like that with a bell and whistles to help me remember mine. Now, I wish I had grabbed the two baggies of handles they had at Goodwill the other day. Oh well, there will be more bags this summer now that yard sale season is upon us.

    • hahaha I totally get it. It is so hard remembering that one. This works better though.

  • Love it! Everything you touch becomes lovely. Not sure how you fit so many things on your limited counters and it looks classy! Mine looks like I haven’t cleaned house in months. Go figure.

  • Hello I feel like if someone made these (Deb!) people would buy them! I love vintage pieces and I feel like there is a market for items like these.. u less u know of a site that sells similar things?! I love it!!
