All Things Outside

A Walk Around the Woods this Week

Last week, I shared that I have so many pretty pictures on my phone.  Because it is always with me, I am always ready for photos ops.   The picture above is one that I snapped on the way back from the mailbox one morning when the fog was almost lifted.  It was really pretty out that day!  I find beauty in so many different things and when the feeling hits, out comes the camera.  I realized that some of you may like seeing the different things around the woods and would enjoy it.  Last week, I shared my first post taking you a walk around the woods.  And, I figured I would do the same this week.  It may be a regular thing just to document lots of pretty or unusual things in nature that we don’t always see.

A Walk Around the Woods this Week

I loved the look of this little log we use as a side table out by the fire pit.  It has lots of colors and textures which pieces like this always make the best photos.  While I was at the fire pit, I snapped a photo of these orange colored mums.  I’m not a huge color person, as you know, but these are beautiful.

I had to share this…even though it’s not anything in nature.  Because, this little skid loader has completely been a lifesaver and has pretty much paid for itself.  Deb is getting so good at running it.  We used this so much this week on the landscaping around the deck project that it sat in our driveway for days.  Every time she gets this out, I know our lives will be easier.  She drove our fountain home in it, too.

It’s coming….   The fall beauty will soon make its appearance.  I absolutely love this time of year.  I only wish it lasted a lot longer.  Because we all knows what comes next.  I struggle a lot with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) during the dark winter months.  And, I can already feel the start of it.

This is the area on the property where we are going to add a dry creek bed with the larger rock we used on the landscaping by the pond deck.  BUT… it keeps raining. (4 inches last night)  So, until it’s dryer, we just can’t get to this project.   If we can’t get to it this fall, it may have to wait until the ground freezes.  It will look so different.  I cannot wait to get to it.

Speaking of 4″ of rain, our pond overflowed.  The guys who dug it debated on whether to add a drain or not.. only because our pond is so small.  He was thinking the evaporation rate would take care of any extra water.  BUT….  he has been watching it when he drives by and said the other day it may need one.  And today…  it for sure needs one.  I shared a few posts here and here with regularly asked pond questions, if you are interested.

I hope you liked this walk around the woods because I love sharing my random photos that I take with you.

  • It’s so lovely walking in the woods with you!!!
I hope doing your exercise program helps you feel better. I am going to get one of those lamps for sad - see if it helps me. I’m usually ok till January but if I think about winter now it’ll send me over the edge.
I keep myself busy w the holidays. By end of feb - mar I’m at my lowest point. I feel for you. Hope you do more segments like this.
    Goodnight Friends
