Do you remember that HUGE antique cabinet we found on the Facebook marketplace a few weeks back?  It weighs a million pounds.  It is so heavy that Deb and I had to round up some friends to help us move it.  Normally we tackle those things by ourselves, but given the fact this antique cabinet is only one piece, there was no way.  Let’s not forget the fact that it is almost 8′ tall and 6′ wide.  I knew exactly where I wanted to put it here in the cottage the moment I saw it.  And I think I know where I want it in the new house, too.  But you will have to stay tuned for that.

One-Piece Large Antique Cabinet

Do you remember what was here in this spot before?  It was our huge white cabinet that has a fabulous story.  I shared that in a post while ago.  If you haven’t read it, you must.  It is like it needs to stay with us.   It will for sure be used in our new house somewhere.

Like I mentioned above, this cabinet is huge and so is the white one that was previously here.  So, it’s going to take a big wall and make a big statement.  I wanted to showcase all of my yellow ware bowls that I have collected over the years in this new piece of ours.  Since the cabinet is more farmhouse, I thought the yellow ware bowls would look pretty in them.

You may have noticed in the before pictures that the inside of this hutch was a caramel color.  That needed to change ASAP.  I used some white paint that we had on hand to freshen it up.  It looks so much cleaner and makes the yellow ware bowls stand out a little more.

Decorating Tip for Displaying Collections

If you want to make your collections look like they are fuller or that you have more pieces, stack your items with smaller pieces on the bottom. When you nest your collectibles together according to size, the smaller ones are hidden inside the bigger ones, so you don’t see them.  When you do it the opposite way, if fills your space better until you can add to your collections!  ????
