Lemon, Ginger, and Honey Sore Throat Soother

Who needs a little help during this cold and flu season?  I will answer that.  ???????? I do.  I woke up yesterday with that tickle in my throat.  And you know exactly what tickle I’m talking about, too.  It’s the one that says, “Hey, girl, hey… you’re going to feel like shit for the next several days…..SURPRISE”   ????  If you’ve been following me for a long time, you know I’m a…. let’s-try-everything-natural-first type of gal.  Check out the post on why I use a natural deodorant.

BUT FIRST, don’t call the you’re-not-a-doctor police ????????‍♀️ because I know.  I’m not claiming to be one.  I’m no doctor and I’m certainly not giving medical advice.  I’m simply sharing something natural that makes me feel better.

I’ve known about this little lemon, ginger, and honey sore throat soother for several years.  And, I figured it would be nice to share it with all of my friends.

I’ve heard of people just taking this as a precautionary, on the daily, to keep colds and the flu away.  I typically take it when I start feeling THE scratch. I keep a jar of this in my refrigerator at all times.  And any time I feel a little scratchy, I take a few spoonfuls of it.  And, besides the benefits I receive for my throat… it tastes mighty fine, too. ???? I’ve heard you can store this in your pantry, too, so I think it’s a preference thing.  I like it cold because obviously something cold makes my throat feel better, too.

Lemon, Ginger, and Honey Sore Throat Soother

All you do is take a clean quart canning jar.  Wash 3-4 organic lemons and cut them in wedges.  I try to remove the seeds but it’s not that big of a deal if you don’t.  Pack the jar half full of the lemon wedges, add a little bit of grated fresh ginger, and then top with remaining wedges.  Next, cover it all with honey.  If you can find local honey, that would even be better.  Screw on the lid and let it be for 24 hours at room temperature.  The lemons will get really juicy over night so stir it all together before you store it in the refrigerator.  I’ve made this several times without the ginger and it works well, too.

This sore throat soother can be taken by the spoonful or be stirred into warm tea.   Oh….and if you are feeling REALLY janky, take a spoonful of whiskey with it all.  It certainly couldn’t hurt matters.  ????

I hope this lemon, ginger and honey sore throat soother helps all of you that like to try natural methods of healing. It sure makes my throat feel better.  Let me know if you have tried it in the comment section, or chat with me on Facebook and Instagram.

Thanks so much for stopping by this little old blog o’mine.  I sure appreciate it more than you know and I pledge my love from deep down in my heart. ❤

Buh bye now, said in a manly sounding voice with a very scratchy throat.
