Easy Custom-Made Patio Buffet Table

Yay!!!  It’s Spring…. and almost Summer.   Or is it?  ???? I recently joined a bunch of friends over on Instagram for a backyard story garden tour.  While I was video taping them, I was freezing my coconuts off.  Dang.  I think it was 54 degrees.   So ridiculous.  That’s what you get in Indiana… four seasons in one day!  Anyway, we ended up planting our veggie garden and getting all of the urns planted with white geraniums, which are my favorite.  While cleaning off our outdoor farmhouse table under the pergola, I made the comment that I wished I had a little buffet type table for all of our parties that we throw.  ???? We haven’t thrown one party since we moved in here three years ago.

Deb said, “I can make you one.  It will only take a few minutes.  Just tell me how big you want it.”  ❤️ After taking a few measurements, she literally went downstairs in her half-done workshop and whipped one up for me.  It was truly so easy, I could have done it.  So I wanted to share this little project with you, in case you want to make an easy custom-made patio buffet table, too.

Easy Custom-Made Patio Buffet Table

The best thing about this table is that she had the supplies here at the house.  They were actually scrap pieces of wood and a few short fence posts that someone had given us.  They were rustic and worn and cool… so we kept them.  I really just wanted this table to fill up the space because quite frankly… the more stuff the better.  It feels so homey to me.

I wanted to keep it rustic and wood tone because it would look better in front of our white garage door.  This isn’t the garage door that we drive into, it’s actually the old garage door that we removed.  This is the back area of our garage and it needed something very big as a focal point.  So I thought it may add a bit of interest.

Instructions

I stood down in the basement and talked to Deb while she made this patio buffet table, lending a hand here and there.  And, let me tell you.  It was so easy and it took her about 30 minutes from start to finish.  She first cut two of the legs to the correct height per my measurements, and then cut two smaller fence posts at a 45 degree angle on both sides to act as a little decorative side piece, and attached them to each leg with long screws.

She then attached a 2×12 to the top of both sets of legs with long screws securing the top in several different places and called it dundee.  We carried it outside and set in place and it was PERFECT for what I wanted it for.  She ended up staining the top with some stain we had leftover from a previous project.  This little table was a freebie and I couldn’t be happier.

Let’s poop up the shelf….

You guys know how much I love to poop up my spaces with a bunch of goodies.  It’s my favorite part.  I found these cute little basket flower pots at Walmart.  I have found the cutest things there lately.  I was on their website and found a few other table top planters that would go perfectly with my neutral, texture theme.  These cute brown ones would add a lot of interest, as well as these little marble ones.  These larger square ones would look great on a deck or holding ferns, as well as these wood toned ones which resemble old ice cream makers.

What do you think of the little table Deb made me?  I think it turned out so cute and love it so much.  Let me know in the comments below.  I would love to hear.

  • Wish i had afriend like Deb!Better still,I wish i knew how to make some of the things i see on the many sites i visit,i'd love to make some cute benches or other things to sit on with pallets and cinder blocks etc,i just find it difficult getting started...I love yard & garage sales, estate sales & flea markets too but i get soo overwhelmed because there are soo many things i see and want but have no game plan <3

  • I love it!! And what took her 30 minutes would take me all day! ???????? Love this post and I really enjoyed the garden tour of the cottage account you shared today on stories. Looking forward to the rest of the tours!

  • I absolutely LOVE this, I also love how Deb offered to make you this with NO complaining...we love you Deb ????

  • Hi Danelle! I love that Deb just whipped you up a table because you wanted one! So sweet of her! I wish I had room for “all the things.” I’ve already junked up our pool area with too much stuff because I like it to feel full and cozy too, lol. I’ve seriously got to learn to edit. I hope the weather stabilizes for y’all soon! I lived in Greenville Indiana for 4 years so I know how erratic the weather can be there. I hated the cold so much, I left before hubbys 4:years were up there and bought a house in Coastal MS, where it’ has only a 3 month mild winter season and the cost of living is cheap. Yay! No more snow and freezing my buns off! Hope y’all have a great summer and good job on the table Deb! ????

    • Oh geez.... that sounds like a wonderful place to live. Sometimes I would love to get out of Indiana, but most of the times I don't. I've lived here my entire life and have so many friends and family here.

  • Love this buffet table....what are the measurements you did for this....love it the way it is ... Thank you

  • Just found your blog today; it's incredible. You guys have done an amazing job.
Is the table freestanding or did you anchor it somehow (set the posts in a hole, anchor it to the wall, etc)?

Also, I agree with the above comments - everyone need a Deb!
