Antique Finds

My Small Antique Haul this Week

We visit thrift stores quite frequently and when we do, I keep my eyes peeled for antiques.  When I say antiques, I’m not really talking about furniture… it’s more about my collections.  I have a huge collection of yellow ware bowls, brown mixing bowls, white ironstone, rolling pins, antique sponge ware, and more.  I don’t think I have ever shared my green and gold pottery here in this space.  But, I added to that collection yesterday when we were out and about.  So here is my small antique haul this week. I should say my teeny tiny haul this week.  But I just had to share because I love this collection.

My Small Antique Haul this Week

We had our housecleaner coming yesterday to do a deep clean.  She comes once a month, but I wanted her to do a spring cleaning type of a clean.  She got all of our chandeliers nice and sparkly.  When she is due here, we normally plan appointments around that time so that we can be out of the house.  Yesterday, we actually had two appointments so it worked out well.  To waste more time, we thrifted a bit.  To be honest, the thrift stores yesterday were very, very sparse.  We put two and two together that it was Monday… and Saturday was probably a big shopping day and there wasn’t time to restock yet.

One of the thrift stores we shopped yesterday had 50% off of blue tags.  I found two of these green McCoy mugs that happened to have a blue tag.  They were marked $6 each so I got both for that price.  I know nothing about them, except they are McCoys and I love them.  I have several pieces of McCoy pottery in my collection.

When I got home, I decided to browse the internet for some history of these things.  But, I’m sure you have noticed.. the internet isn’t the same these days. You rarely find information about specific items anymore, as it’s only SHOPPING that pops up.  When I click IMAGES, it goes to shopping.  EVERYTHING goes to shopping.  I use GOOGLE as my search engine and I even tried different ones and it is all the same.  Enough about that.

This is all I found out about my McCoy pottery.

McCoy produced this style in the 1920s during the Prohibition.  It has a buccaneer pirate standing beside a barrel with a wood grain texture around him.  The pattern is on both sides.  They have a number 6 on the bottom so I’m assuming that means ounces.

That’s it.  That is all I could find.  If you know anything about these, let me know in the comments.

I love the way they match some of my other McCoy pottery pieces that I have in my stash.
