Home Tour

Our Washer and Dryer and other Details of the Laundry Room

You have seen quite a few pictures of the laundry room here in our new home.  We had just moved in a few weeks before Christmas so I added a few small trees on the countertops.  Once Christmas was over, I swapped out the trees to every day decor and added a stained glass window.  But, I have never shared the workhorses of the laundry room…. our washer and dryer and other details of the laundry room.  I figured I would give you the full tour of the laundry room in this post as well.  And, let you know what other plans we have for this room.

Our Washer and Dryer

We went with the GE Smart Front Load Washer with OdorBlock UltraFresh Vent System and the matching Electric Dryer with Steam and Sanitize Cycle.

They’re energy-efficient front-loaders.  They have a vent system, which means you don’t get that damp smell that front loaders are known for. The doors on this set are reversible.  We, of course, went with white but they do come in satin nickel as well.  This washer and dryer set seems very luxurious.

Note:  If you watch stories on social media, you may remember an issue of us not being able to use our washer for several weeks after having it delivered.  It worked but didn’t heat up.  Come to find out, the guy who installed it stripped a screw while attaching the wire to the back of the washer.  That wire was what heated the dryer.  So they replaced that screw and it works like a dream.

Sink and Faucet

I did share our vintage looking sink and faucet in another post.  They are from Vintage Tub and Bath.  And we couldn’t be happier.  Everyone who sees our laundry room thinks it’s an old sink.  I am so glad that they make such realistic reproductions these days because it really does look authentic.  You can have new without the hassle of repairing the old.

Glass Storage Containers

I decided to add some glass storage containers on our countertop to keep our laundry items easily accessible.  And, if you follow me on social media, you know that I am the queen of doing that.  I always say to use your regular everyday items as home decor.  Not only are they right at your finger tips, but adding them to a pretty container serves double duty.  Most of these are glass containers that I have had on hand or found while thrifting.  Some of the items are linkable.

Laundry Cart

I found this laundry cart a few months back and it is a GAME CHANGER.  I realize that if you have your washer and dryer is on a different level, this isn’t going to work for you.  But, ours happens to be on the same floor.  I HIGHLY recommend it.  It’s huge and it holds a lot.  And, it’s deep enough that you have to look down inside to see the dirty laundry, which is a plus. I received a few messages saying they bought one for their soccer and basketballs for the garage.  And, it is only $44.

Future Projects for this Space

We are completely focused on moving everything into the house.  But after that, we have lots of projects that we want to do… including wall treatments in a few different rooms.  Here in the laundry room, I would LOVE to add some type of shelf with hooks around the window.  Along with a wall treatment on that wall as well.

We need to add the glass in the antique doors that are on the coat closet.  I am thinking antique glass, but haven’t made up my mind yet.  Which is the reason it’s not done.

I was also thinking of hanging an old wood decor piece on the wall above the church bench and hanging hooks on that.  For some reason, I am having commitment issues with it.  I’m not sure why, but maybe we will try it anyway.  We can always remove it and repair the holes.

I was thinking of some type of wall treatment on the wall that goes up to the bonus room, aka office.  But who knows what that will be.  And, I would love a runner up those steps.  I haven’t committed to the type of runner yet, but I think it would add a lot of texture.

There is a wall here in the laundry room that I haven’t shown yet.  Because we have something hung but I don’t have it done.  And, I want to do that before I show it.  So stay tuned for that.

  • The laundry room looks great!!! But I have to ask, where did you find all those Thunder Mugs (aka chamber pots)?? I have been looking for one with a wire handle and lid as a gift for my brother. We used one when we went tent camping!!! Oh the memories!!
    Thanks

    • Oh geez.. I have collected them for years. I pick them up everywhere.. thrift stores, garage sales, etc, when I find them for a great price.

  • Taking the dreary out of the laundry room! Love it! May I ask what brand of laundry pods you use? As I age, I'm finding I need to switch up my laundry soap and I love the look of those in that jar.
