Do you ever have a room in your home that you struggle with decorating? Honestly, this dining room has never been put together to my liking. And I am realizing that dining rooms are hard for me to decorate. And, I think it’s due to the fact that there is a long, thin table in them and they are hard to get that full, cozy feeling. Well.. I have really been focusing on getting this dining room put together and figuring out just why I can’t get that accomplished. I realized that I have never had the correct chairs for the ends of the table. So I went on a hunt and found the perfect slipcovered dining room chairs.
Do you remember this table in the cottage.. aka Deb’s workshop? The chairs that I had on the ends of this table were antique captains chairs. They didn’t look right whatsoever but I knew that was a temporary living space. And I wanted to wait until we were in our new home to figure out what I wanted. Well, when we moved in here and got all of our storage unit items moved, I forgot that I had some large vintage wingback chairs that I found on the Marketplace years ago. So I used them for awhile simply for the look. There was no way anyone could sit there comfortably and eat at the table because they sat so low. And, they stuck out way to far in the walking space.
We have 4 slipcovered dining chairs from Sixpenny that we got a few years back. And, I love them. I love the height of them as it doesn’t take away from the room. But, I have always wanted a higher back chair for the end of the table. I searched for a few weeks and kept a few different high back slipcovered dining chairs in my cart. But, I just couldn’t commit. To be honest, when ordering furniture or anything larger, I always get stressed thinking about sending them back if I don’t like them. So that was my main concern with these.
I narrowed my search down to two. Two that I absolutely loved the looks of. One of my choices are gorgeous. And hey have white slipcovers, which would match the rest of my chairs. But, they were too big for my table. The ones that I chose have ivory covers so I was worried about the mismatched look between the slipcovers in that room
It was a pleasant surprise because I thought they wouldn’t be delivered for a week yet. I was truly afraid to open them because I wanted to LOVE them and not have to send them back. Well.. it was love at first sight.
The slipcovers are made from really nice fabric. There is a lot of texture and they fit really well and aren’t sloppy looking. They have a zipper down the back so they can be easily removed for washing. The size of these chairs is just perfect for our area. And, believe it or not, I love the cream color and the white mismatched look together.
I have a lot more to do in this room, but it’s finally coming together. Work will resume next week on that massive cabinet on the opposite side of the room from the fireplace. I still have the shelves to paint and the doors to refinish and cannot wait to get that done. Because the fun part of decorating it will be next.
Speaking of fireplace, did you see the mantel decor that I put together here in the dining room? If not, make sure to check that out.
