Last week, I shared with you MY creative space.  Being the smallest bedroom in the house, it performs double duty as an office and my craft room.  I love having a room specifically for these needs.  It’s where I can start projects, have an A.D.D. moment, and forget all about it until the next day.  I have to say that Deb loves it, too.  I used to have my craft supplies strewn all over the dining room table for several days. This way I can pull the door shut and we don’t have to be reminded of my A.D.D. problem.  (I’m still blaming menopause even though I haven’t begun per the doctor.  ????)

She Sheds

Have you ever heard of a She Shed?  They are all over Pinterest.  If not, you’ve surely heard of a Man Cave.

A She Shed is for HER.

It’s usually a small shed type building in the back yard where a woman can escape the daily grind of work and kids.   It’s a place to hang with friends and drink wine.   Some have comfy furniture to relax, read books, browse magazines, and drink wine.   Can you tell I’m all about the wine?

I’ve seen a few turned into beautiful potting sheds for the ladies that love gardening.  Or people have turned them into their own person craft room, similar to mine.  It’s a wonderful concept.

The Wifey’s Little Workshop

The outside appears as though it would be a beautiful wine sipping hide-away filled with over stuffed furniture, gorgeous wall treatments, and of course, a chandelier.   A place to dream up fabulous projects and to escape reality.

Part of that description is accurate.

It is truly a place where Deb escapes to do the things she loves.  It’s where she creates.

Welcome to The Backyard Workshop

It’s where all of the goodies are made!

Since this workshop is so small, she has to be very organized in her space.

Of course, it is all decked out in fun street signs and a stop light that actually works.

I ran out to ask her something a few days back and saw she had just cleaned the saw dust from the floors and had everything organized so it was perfect timing for me to snap a few pics. It doesn’t normally look this clean.  ????

She just revamped this little space a few weeks ago by adding this little work bench area made from two lower kitchen cabinets that were being thrown away.  And, she re-used wood from another project to create this miter saw table.

There is extra storage for wood up above in the rafters.

When working with larger boards, some of her tables can be moved as most are on wheels.

In my honest opinion, this beastly table saw is terrifying.  I hate that thing.  The wifey just rips boards in half and doesn’t even flinch.  She’s a champ!

She even found a paper towel holder at the Salvation Army to hang in her shop.  Attached to the wall with velcro is her remote control pointing directly at her radio.   Ha!   I told you she has to be efficient in a small space.

So there you have it!

It’s the wifey’s version of a She Shed.
