We originally called this little series Trashed Tuesday. It was where we would take things people discarded or items that were donated, and give them a makeover. Do you remember the mirror we shared for a Trashed Tuesday project? That was probably one of my favorite makeovers. I also loved the bowling ball flip. That was a fun one. You can find all of our Trashed Tuesday pieces in one spot, but I am renaming them all to Transformation Tuesday. And the reason it… we used to be able to find so many things to redo. Every time we go to a thrift store, there is truly nothing. NOTHING. I used to be able to find a ton of items every time we went. But no more.
Therefore, we are using Tuesdays as our Transformation day. We will either transform an item, transform our fireplace look, transform a room. You get the picture. It actually opens up a few more ideas for us. The thrift stores are just not what they used to be in our area.
OK.. now on to this week’s Transformation Tuesday piece.
Do you remember when Deb made our Christmas tree collar out of pallet wood? Well… she was getting ready to take it to the storage unit with the rest of the Christmas decor. And had an idea. She said, “What if I took this apart (just a few screws) and put it together the other way. I could make a top. You could use it as a little plant stand and we wouldn’t have to store it. Come next Christmas, put it all back together into a Christmas tree collar.”
And that is what she did. She removed all of the screws in the collar and put it together the opposite way. She used scrap pallet wood to make the top. And it makes the most perfect little plant stand. I think it turned out so dang cute. And what a great way to avoid the FULL storage unit. Which, by the way, I cannot wait to go through that. Once the house is built, we will bring everything to the house and won’t need it anymore. YAY! Speaking of the house, did you see the house plans? I posted those a few weeks ago.
What do you think of Deb’s idea?
