Trashed Tuesday: Antique Wooden Tray Replica

Welcome back to another Trashed Tuesday.  It’s one of my favorite days of the week because….  PROJECTS.  You know how much we love a great project.  This week was another time when we didn’t really have anything already made.  Hopefully when Deb gets her BIG workshop and we have storage, these pieces will be regularly repurposed items.  But, for now we have to improvise.

We found a wooden tray that I absolutely love.  We found it when we went antique shopping at the last minute a few weeks back.  This tray could be used for so many different things.  I currently have it on our coffee table but it would look great in the middle of a dining table holding plates, candlesticks, etc.  Anyway, Deb made one exactly like it for this week’s Trashed Tuesday.  And we think we may give it away as a gift.

I have a highlight over on Instagram with this entire project if you want to watch her make it, because I’m showing the ending project here.  So let me show you how I styled it.

Trashed Tuesday: Antique Wooden Tray Replica

I styled this tray here on the island in the kitchen and first started with a Christmas tree.  Did you notice this little white antique flower pot?  It is marked McCoy that I picked up for $5.99.  I couldn’t believe it when I saw it sitting high on the top shelf at the Salvation Army.  You just never know what you will find.  Nine out of ten times, it’s nothing.  And then there is that ONE time.  I was thrilled.  Because they can be pricey.  I did a quick internet search and it looks like these were made in the 1950s.  I have a turquoise one just like it.  If you scroll up and look at the top picture, the price tag is still on it.  ????

The little table runner was one I made YEARS ago out of an old piece of fabric and some fringe.  Of course, I added a stack of plates.  These happen to be from my collection of antique ones.  They have a great story to them and I shared it a few months ago.  Of course, I added a candle.  Candles are a must.

Also on the last minute antique trip, I found a stack of small cheese boards.  I just love collecting them.  They are perfect to add a little height here and there in displays.  And, I love the patina of old bread and cheese boards.  And to think of the history of these pieces.  Who all used them, where did they originally come from, etc.  And my little recipe card box is one that I sat at an auction FOREVER to get…  I had the winning bid of $1.00.

Thanks for stopping by our little site…

It means so much to me.  Which by the way, it is going to be a big site here in the next couple of months.  Did I tell you it is getting a makeover?  I cannot wait for that.

I absolutely love how this tray tuned out.  You can, of course, make it any size that you want.  But, she made it around the same size as the one I already have.  If we don’t give it away, I just know I will find a great use for it in our new house.

What do you think?
