A Few Random Antique Finds this Week

I haven’t done one of these antique hauls in awhile.  If you love seeing different antiques that people find in their areas and what they paid for the items, check out my posts.  I like to share them… because I also love to read about everyone else’s hauls.  We found a few random antique finds this week, by chance, actually.  Keep reading to see what we found.

A Few Random Antique Finds this Week

Deb is a Facebook girl.  When we sit down to checkout social media at night, that is the app she normally browses.  I am more of an Instagram or TikTok girl.  Wait.. speaking of social media.  Are you on Lemon8?  If you are, we have been posting over there, so give us a follow.  It’s a really fun app.  OK… my ADD just showed up.  Back to the antique haul.

Antique Desk – $50

The drawers are in the truck that isn’t here but they are all here.

Deb sat down the other night and said there were a bunch of garage sales listed.  And sent me a picture of an antique desk that looked very interesting.  It was $50.  We have been keeping our eyes peeled for a large antique desk for the office.  Because progress has currently stopped on that project as there are more other pressing things to do outside… like finishing the decor on the front porch and finishing the chicken coop.  Which needs to be done SOON!

Did you know we have chickens?  We just need to finish the coop and go pick them up.

We don’t need a ton of storage in a desk as we have an antique file cabinet for paperwork, etc.  So this would be specifically to hold my desktop and a few random office supplies.  We decided to go check out the antique desk and loved it.  It is the perfect size for the office space.  And, for $50, it was a steal.  It was at the end of the day, so the owner threw in a few more items for FREE.

Antique Glass Piece – FREE

I have absolutely NO CLUE what this piece of glass is from.  I would love to know.  It has such a pretty shape.  Both the bottom and the top are open. And the top looks like it had some type of screw cap.  The owner didn’t know what it was either but said she had it for YEARS.  I originally thought it was from an old light… but the top part has me confused.  If you know, comment below.  I have no clue what I will do with it, but I thought it was pretty.  And, the price was right.  Ha!

Antique Wooden Register Cover – FREE

I was so fascinated with this wooden piece. But, I believe she said it was used to cover a register vent in her old house.  I don’t understand the nails, but I will be removing them.  Because I can see this leaned up against the back of our massive cabinet in the dining room with things displayed in front of it.  It would give it a lot of texture and warmth.

Bird Bath Base – FREE

She was going to have her husband make her something out of this bird bath base, but they decided against it.  And, it was going to be thrown away.  Of course, we decided to take it off of her hands.  Who knows what we will do with it, but I’m sure we can figure out something.  We have so many great outdoor spaces that need sprucing up… so stay tuned for what we do with it.

And those are a few random antique finds this week!

Let me know if you know anything about that glass piece.  I find it fascinating.  You know that I will share once it finds a home here in the house.

  • Danelle, that glass piece is part of a wine dispensing decanter/contraption… the screw-on part probably had a little valve on it that you would tilt with your wine glass to fill it up. The wine was poured in the top of the glass vessel, but it probably had an iron holder at one time. My Mom is from Austria and has a similar one, but they were big in the latter 1940’s-mid60’s in the era of adult social entertaining & parties at home. Many of them were made & shipped over from Europe.

    • That is awesome! Thanks for sharing, Gloria! I would love to find the other pieces to make this thing complete again.

  • A fern would be adorable sticking out of that broken bird bath stand. It would h8de the jagged edges, which I'm sure you have already thought of. Lord kno2s you are the QUEEN of ideas. 🤎🤎🤎

    • I could probably put one of our new artificial ferns in there and it would look great!

  • I think you should fill the broken birdbath pedestal with dirt and plant something in it! The glass thing I would try to find a cap for the little end and display as a bottle (even though it's not).

    • Oh yeah, it would probably make a nice addition to the edge of the chicken coop or our garden with a plant in it.

  • Ps..another idea for the glass thing. Expoxy a clear marble to the little end then flip it over and either place in a stand that could hold it or wrap wire arould the middle in order to hang it abd use it for flowers or starts of plant clippings.

    • That's also a great idea! I had never thought of a clear marble, but that would definitely do the trick!

  • Does the glass piece, by chance, fit into the broken bird bath? It would make a lively contradiction! Lol!
