Christmas in the House on Winchester Office

I’ve wanted to revamp my office for awhile.  When we first moved in, I not only used it as an office, but a craft room as well.  Since starting this little business of mine, my crafting days are a thing of the past.  I needed to turn this tiny room specifically into an office.  And, I needed it to be very functional with cabinets to hold products from companies that I am reviewing.  I’ve had in the back of my mind for quite some time that I need a desktop computer because it would be way more convenient for me than my laptop.  So, Black Friday deals came out and I couldn’t pass it up.  That computer purchase sparked a revamp of my office, which sparked decorating it for Christmas.  Because, why not?

Christmas in the Office

I made my “office” sign a long time ago out of a scrap piece of wood and some stencils so I thought it would be cute hung on my door.  Yes, I just attached it with a screw because the holes are easily filled with putty if I want it removed.  I, also, made The House on Winchester Sign out of an old foot board that we found on the trash.  I made it right when I started this blog and it hung in the entryway for a long time.  But, I think it’s completely appropriate for my office, I mean…..  ????????‍♀️

I found these cute little folk art looking santas in my stash.  I swear I made them almost 30 years ago.  The supplies I used were a hair pin, a ball of aluminum foil, and the inside of Kotex maxi pads mixed with Gesso.  Not even kidding!

I’ve always been fond of them but never knew what to do with them because I’ve been ornament-less for the last several years and you know me and my “color” problem.  Lots of color drives my mind mad.  But, I thought I could handle them here in my office.  So, I just strung them all together on a piece of cotton yarn.  I think they look cute.  They stare at me while I’m working.

And, of course, I planted myself a little fake forest on the white shelf.  Deb cut the ends off of a porch post which makes cute little tree stands.

My Workspace

My desktop computer sparked this switcheroo as I stated above.  I’m so glad it did, too.  My office was a trash dump for several months.  I would walk in here and toss stuff I didn’t know what to do with.  ???? I decided to use this old library table as my desk.  Deb found it out in an old house on her parent’s property.  Who knows how it got there but she refinished it years ago, and I still love it.

I hung an evergreen and pinecone wreath on each window and added a few small Christmas trees with white lights in the corner.  It feels warm and cozy in here.  My comfy chair got decorated my FAVORITE Christmas pillow.  It’s the perfect place for me to sit while I edit pictures on my phone.

Storage Solutions in my Office

I needed some storage cabinets for those products I talked about above.  They have been strewn all over the house and it is driving me nuts.  And Deb HATES it so bad…. ???? She is the queen of organization.  I have my antique filing cabinet for all of the annoying paperwork and my antique cabinet which I found during heavy trash week here in our town.  That cabinet holds part of my crock collection and a few trees along with the products inside.  Which makes both of us very happy!

I got this idea to drag our antique fireplace mantle in here to see if I liked it.  I can never find a place for this because quite honestly, it is a decorative piece and nothing else.  I’ve always hated the fact that there was nothing in the bottom…. like a fire.  ????  So I grabbed one of my stained glass windows and a nightlight from my stash.  and I LOVE it in here.  It’s the perfect depth because for where the door is located.  I ended up just decorating it with a pine bough just to give it a little Christmas feel.  And, I use that little thrifted hamper as my trash bin.

What do you think of my office and its brand new look?  It is so much more functional and not cram packed with furniture.  My little buddy, Ivy, was stretched out on the rug while I snapped this picture, so there is more room for her, too! ????  She approves.  Let me know what you think in the comments or over on Facebook and Instagram.
