Today is a major event! It is the day that we head out to the 127 Yard Sales. The World’s Longest Yard Sale happens every year on the first Thursday – Sunday in August. Highway 127 is 690 miles long and spans 6 states including Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama. We live up on the northwest side of Ohio and about 80 miles from Michigan. So since there are more places to shop south of us, it’s the way we go. Highway 127 is about 10-15 minutes from our house so we catch it there. And, normally we shop till we drop on Thursday and then we spend the night in in Hamilton, Ohio, which is close to Cincinnati. We head back home on Friday and hit a bunch of sales that opened that day. And boy is it fun. I wanted to share today what we will be looking for at the 127 yard sales and share a few things that we found in the past years.
I don’t think you know how much I look forward to this. It’s so fun that I can never sleep the night before. We went to bed last night at 10pm and I woke up at 11:30 thinking it was time to get up and start shopping. Ha! We started this tradition of ours several years ago and it’s been such a fun thing to do every year with Deb. When we had our storefront, it’s where we found a large chunk of our inventory this time of year.
There are people who fly in for the sale from all over the country. A few years back, I remember hearing that someone from California flew in and rented a U-haul to stock up her own storefront. And was driving back to California. It was a lot less inexpensive to do that because she could find such great items at great prices here in the midwest compared to prices in California.
Like I said, we have been attending the 127 Yard Sale for YEARS.. LONG before I had my website, which is where I share pretty much everything. But, check out all of the goodies we found August of 2020. It was right after the world opened back up and we were all so excited to feel normal again. And then we got another fun haul last year, August, 2022. I don’t remember what happened in 2021 and why we didn’t go. But, we didn’t.
There are SO MANY yard sales. When you attend an addition type sale, sometimes the yard sales are few and far between. Entire towns along Highway 127 are set up for this sale every year, plus different sales in between the small towns. You can shop barn sales all along the highway which will take you down country roads a few miles. Also, people who have a large piece of land along the highway will rent out the booth space and set up a flea market type of thing. So when your car stops, it’s not for ONE sale. You can park along the highway and walk to 6-8 of them. I’m sure the truck drivers LOVE this time of year. Ha!
We normally go in with an open mind as far as what we want to find, because… they are yard sales. But, I typically come home with lots of different things to add to my collections of yellow ware, ironstone, my brown pitchers, etc. One year, we stopped at a barn sale and found several antique picture frames. Which was perfect because I use them for my seasonal prints that I switch out every year. Do you remember when I found that old piece from a dresser that we have over our front door? I paid next to nothing for that.
Clear back in 2012-ish, we found this little antique cabinet which is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. It was found at one of the little flea markets that was set up along the highway… which I find the most fun. We also found this piece of leaded glass at the same little flea market type of thing for $50.
We do have a few things that we would love to find. Like I said above, we hit the 127 Yard Sales with an open mind, but also have a list of things we will be looking for. This is what we will be looking for on the 127 Yard Sales this year:
If you are on social media, stay tuned to stories because we will be sharing lots of the fun for those who cannot attend. And, I will for sure do a round up here of all of our finds on this year’s longest yard sale.
As always, thanks for stopping by debanddanelle.com today. I appreciate it!

I will be living vicariously through you gals – I wanted to go so bad but life has gotten in the way. Can’t wait to see what you find!
I wish we had the 127 sale fifteen minutes from our house. Sigh.
Have fu, ladies! Can’t wait to see what you find! It’s my goal to make it out to the 127 Yard Sales one day. In the meantime, I’ll have to settle for Brimfield. 😏
Didn’t know where to leave my suggestion – how about
I know this is a little off the wall, but …..
I will be there vicariously with you. I have a friend who has been to 127! Just WOW!
What a great time we had years ago on the longest yard sale. Such an awesome experience…we met so many wonderful people.
II can remember seeing that 127 Yard Sale going on in a section of Fentress County, Tennessee, when I was living and working there with a private medical aid organization 50yrs ago! I had no idea that it is still going on after all of this time. Sounds as though it may have grown larger.
That’s amazing! Such a neat memory.
This would be so much fun!! Can’t wait to see all your treasures ❤️❤️❤️
Oh how I wish I lived close to this event! I’d go every year too! I can’t wait to see the treasures you find!
I attended a few years ago. My greatest find was a cracker jack bracelet with all western theme charms, in copper. The sale is great fun.
That sounds like a great find! It’s so much fun!
