Whew….

FINALLY, the dining room reveal.  Yay!

I started talking about the dining room 100 years ago but then Project Backyard and Project Pergola kind of took center stage.  Here in Indiana, we only have so many months to enjoy the weather outside.  We are finally to the point on the pergola to be able to start the finishing touches between garden preserving sessions, which seems to happen every other day.

Farmhouse Table

I wrote about our library table turned farmhouse table and where we found it in a previous post.  You won’t believe it.  I was so excited about that little surprise treasure.

The dining room is truly a room that turned out exactly how I planned it.  That doesn’t happened often.  If you haven’t seen them, please skip on over to the BEFORE pictures because you all know I don’t like to poop up reveal posts with a case of the uglies.

The Dining Room Reveal

By taking that wall out between the kitchen and the dining room, it sure opened up this space.  I love that I can now see three crystal chandeliers by standing in our living room, because you all KNOW how I feel about those little treasures. ????

The antique chandelier above the dining room table was found at our local flea market 15 years ago for $5.  Yes, folks, you read that right.  $5.   It was shoved under a table in a box.  We just about had a stroke.  ????  I believe it has hung in 3 homes because we can’t part with it.

The second chandie is one that we removed from a rental house that we bought 100 years ago.  It is technically in our kitchen but since you can see it from this angle, I thought I would tell you about it.  This beauty has sparkled in six different homes, including it’s beginning.  Have chandelier, will travel.  ????

And the third little gem is above our kitchen sink and behind the large leaded glass window that we have hung as a divider to disguise our sink full of dishes.  So you will have to wait until the kitchen reveal to see that one.

Styling the Dining Room

Just as the master bedroom, this room was pretty hard to style.  With the table in the middle of this long room, it left us with two long blank walls to decorate on each side.  I usually like to fill those type of walls with LARGE pieces of furniture.  Otherwise, it looks like a row of tiny pieces of furniture back to back to back.

I’m whipping up a post on how I like to style rooms from start to finish.  So be watching for that.

This buffet is almost six feet long.  We only have a few places it will fit.

We removed an original window and installed this sliding glass door for a BIG future project, which will be adding a screened porch onto the back of the house for more outdoor living space.

I shouldn’t even say it.

But, you know those pieces that you will never sell or ever paint?

(Why did I just type that?  You know what happens when I say ever or never. ????)

This antique china cabinet is one of those.  When I was 20 years old, I bought the glass top and used it as a display case, but I decided that she needed a mate.  You know, like set up an arranged marriage type of thing.   So, I carried her measurements with me to every auction, flea market and garage sale in search of a wife/husband for my beloved.  (I had to keep my options open.)   My dad and I went to an auction and saw the bottom half and just knew it would be perfect.  So these two pieces didn’t originally belong together but I forced them to get married.  ????

The ANTIQUES sign is one that I made.  Believe it or not, the white chippy board was taken off of our house above our garage doors and was thrown in the trash pile.

Me to the contractors:  “Um…… I will be taking that, mmmmmmkay! ????”

And if you follow me on Facebook and Instagram, you’ve already seen this picture.  This little corner is a treasure trove.  The cabinet was found curbside on heavy trash day.  The little stool was given to us by a friend because it had a broken leg and she knew who could mend it’s little limb.  Deb made the chippy box on top of our treasure out of old barn siding we got for free.  And I found this little wall cabinet divider at a garage sale for $5.00.

The next room I will be showing you will be the kitchen, which is located right around that big leaded glass piece.    You won’t believe the before pictures.  And I cannot wait to tell you about our kitchen island.  It’s a pretty cool story.

AND, see the gray wall in all of these pictures?  It’s the ONLY wall in the entire house that is filled with color.  You know that me and color don’t get along for very long.  So, I briefly “whispered” the need to change that to the wifey.  Her face looked like this. ????

I have lots of things planned in the next several days to share with you including my first recipe.  It’s really not even considered a recipe because it’s 2 – 3 ingredients, one of them being olive oil.  ????  BUT, it’s a very simple vegetarian meal that is very healthy and low in calories.   Because you all know I’m ON THE PROGRAM to lose 15 pounds.

And, I have a few things in my cart that I want to share that I’ve bought in the last couple of months that I need to tell you about, because they are dandies.  And, I’m so happy that I bought them.
